Dear Mum
You are royal blue like a whale relaxing at the bottom of the sea
If you were a food you would be rice.Rice is soft and nice
When you're mad you are like the wind that knocks over trees but when you are happy you are like the sun that keeps me warm
You are like a boat sailing across the peaceful sea gliding to your destination
You are like a polar bear. You are angry sometimes but other timesyou are warm and cuddly

love from xxxx

I am not too impressed with being a blue whale relaxing Wink but that i can live with.It is that she has written about me being angry TWICE , that has made me Sad. I don't want her to think of me that way

The overall message I get from that is that you are a lovely warm mum who has her moments (but don't we all?). She mentions warm, calm, peaceful, cuddly and those are the things that stick in my mind from this poem, not the 'angry' bits.

Aww that's cute!

You might have been particularly angry about something on they day your child wrote the poem, kids say odd things. But the general theme of the poem is your child loves you very much x

I wouldn't worry too much about the angry comments. Your trying to guide her growing into a happy well-rounded person, that's going to include getting frustrated and annoyed.

She has so many more references to how much she loves you, finds you a comfort and enjoys your happiness with you it sounds pretty well balanced to me. You can inform her when she's in the wrong without losing her love or making her fear you. Not too shabby is it?
