Anyone else think ed is just what the country could do with. He's not bothered by the way he looks and image, he just gets on with it. The son of polish immigrants so has had to work his way up. Went to a rough London comprehensive school, the same as urban band n dubs! Hes promising a better deal to the young and to stop the savage cuts. I can't think of any good reason not vote for him.

People go on about him having two kitchens and looking funny when eating a sand wedge. But he and his wife have had to work for two kitchen and o think good for them. We all look dodgy eating too!

Yes, this country really needs a gormless plonker for a leader, not.

FuzzyWizard · 14/03/2015 19:16

i'm pretty sure the house has two kitchens because it's a townhouse and the main kitchen is on a different floor to the living room. When we were looking at houses we looked at a couple of townhouses (very modest ones) and one had a set up like that with a small kitchen area off the living room and a bigger kitchen on the ground floor with space for a table etc. I suppose people don't want to traipse up and down stairs every time they want a cup of tea.

Justanotherlurker · 14/03/2015 19:37

Astroturfing 101 is to at least try and be subtle, if you cannot see his privileged background then your pretty niave, he's not a champion for the poor as politics has become even more of a team sport since the early 90's and your forgetting the recent rise of ukip and greens, and most of all the 'working poor' who vote Tory

It's not about one party being better than the other as both have only paid lip service in opposition so they can grab the hand of power and continue down the same path, that hand of power is winning over the center vote.

Ed and labour aren't fit to run the country atm, if you don't like that it's partly become a personality contest, then you can lay that issue at Tony's feet, I know you feel Tony doesn't represent you now his policies are maturing but you changed 'the game'

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 14/03/2015 19:53

Ed Miliband has a superior intellect and is more of a true politician - he could have the smart geek thang that Obama benefitted from; and I have no idea why his 'people' don't make more hay out of that.

Cameron is a career politician who has a set of economic ideals which drives everything. His government has been the most controversial in terms of it's policies for a long time.

I want to see and hear Labour giving a shit about the poor and needy in the country instead of demonising them.

I get pissed off at election time crap - wheeling out Sam Cam in an M&S frock etc. I would never vote Tory, following their despicable treatment of the most needy in this country.

I will vote Labour, but I do have reservations.

Miliband not that different from Clegg or Cameron, they are all quite samey really.

The really scary one is Ed Balls. As chancellor! Imagine the absolute damage he wil do.

Balls is a huge liability to the Labour party and the main reason I would not vote for them (that, and them letting the SNP in to rule England)

derxa · 14/03/2015 20:07

I'm sure he's intellectually brilliant, believes in what he says etc. However he has some major problems
-He doesn't look or sound like a leader
-He looks as if he is not able to understand the problems of ordinary people
-He looks as if he cannot interact with ordinary people
-He comes from a rarefied intellectual background and only mixes with people from that milieu
That is my perception, whether it is true or not I don't know.
You could compare him to Angela Merkel of Germany. She looks genuine in every situation I've seen her in e.g. supporting her country at the World Cup

Feminine · 14/03/2015 20:11

feckless

Why on earth should l be ashamed of myself?

I don't like any of the offerings.
Why would l vote?

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 14/03/2015 20:12

richthegreat just wish you'd get off the bloody fence about Ed Miliband

chilephilly · 14/03/2015 20:15

First, if you'd been in Brum today you would have heard Labour giving quite a lot of shit actually about the poor and needy.

I'm campaigning for Labour because of the selfishness and the broken promises and the lies of the Tories. Tories look after themselves and their rich mates.

Justanotherlurker · 14/03/2015 20:18

first being the stereotypical problem with this partisan bullshit that we call politics with:

"I want to see and hear Labour giving a shit about the poor and needy in the country instead of demonising them"

It's become a team game, nothing more.

It maybe a typo, but there is a certainly a ring of truth about it.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 14/03/2015 20:22

I agree baby.

If ed m had any balls he would get rid of Balls. Balls screwed the country over. No one can trust labour while he is there.

FrancesNiadova · 14/03/2015 20:23

Thing is, if he's willing to shaft his brother so ruthlessly, what would he do to you or I?
At the time when he should have been a loyal, supportive bedrock
of his brother's leadership campaign, he was stabbing him first in the back, then in the front.
I don't like CaMoron or Nick. I'd not vote for red Ed, the sneaky sht, either.
At the moment, I'm tempted to vote for the pub landlord: FUKIP!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 14/03/2015 20:24

Ahem evening all

Just a reminder that we don't tolerate personal attacks.
Thanks ever so

JohnFarleysRuskin · 14/03/2015 20:25

That's you, rich!

Sallyingforth · 14/03/2015 20:27

Sorry. Not in a million years.

Lyddym · 14/03/2015 20:36

Either you're a Labour activist in disguise, or you're not in possession of the facts. Ed's father was a university professor, including at the highly prestigious LSE. Hardly the impoverished labourer you suggest. Ed's school was a comprehensive, but not 'rough' as you describe it. Rather, it was a favourite of London's left wing intellectuals, ie the Millibands. Then, Ed had an internship with the Rt Hon Tony Benn, a family friend and Labour cabinet minister. Nothing wrong with any of that, but let's not pretend he's dragged himself up by his bootstraps. Similarly, there's nothing wrong with having a £2 million house, with a lovely kitchen for the nanny and children and a little one for mum & dad. But again, why make out it's his main kitchen?

didyouwritethe · 14/03/2015 20:38

"Tories look after themselves and their rich mates."

And so do the Labour lot. They just lie about it more.

Sandybananapants · 14/03/2015 20:41

Couldn't agree more with didyouwritethe

Well said

FrancesNiadova · 14/03/2015 20:42

VOTE GUV FOR GUV'NORMENT!

Barf

AntiHop · 14/03/2015 20:55

Yanbu. I agree. He seems a lot more down to earth than Cameron. And although their policies aren't perfect, they are a huge amount better than the tories who are a nasty bunch.

Justanotherlurker · 14/03/2015 21:08

nasty buch

Looks like the Student's Union representative has shown up, I bet your one who complains about Ed being targeted unfairly in the press as well.

We get the government we deserve with that type of rethoric.

GinnelsandWhippets · 14/03/2015 21:46

My main problem with EM is his consistent lack of judgement. Not using notes during one of the most important speeches of his career (and so forgetting to mention the ECONOMY), mansion tax (i agree with progressive taxation but this policy is so holey you could drive a truck through it), kitchen gate. he is a fool.
