AIBU to have a weird feeling things are going to happen soon?

Ok not sure if it is an AIBU but last night when putting DS to bed I had the most overwhelming feeling that I was going to go into labour soon, I'm 35 weeks and DD was 1 days early, DS 10 days early.

I couldn't explain it but I lifted my hospital bag out of DS room and packed pjs and the last few bits into it as I just couldn't shake the overwhelming feeling at all. Then this morning I was wide awake at 5.30 wondering how I'd get a hold of OH If anything happened as he is a structural engineer and doesn't have his phone on him apart from breaks.

Has anyone else had this feeling?? It was bizarre!

Well, good luck either way :) Do you have a plan for if you do go into labour early? Can you ask your dh to keep his phone on him at all times?

Misslgl88 · 13/03/2015 11:21

I'm going to ask him tonight. If I couldn't get a hold of him mil is just next door so it's not quite as bad!

Yes! I felt peculiar the day before I had my son at 37 weeks. I was walking around the supermarket and it wasn't pain or anything like that, I just felt different. I can't explain it really!

It's pretty normal to get the nesting instinct around this time, maybe it's a bit of that? It's natural to want to feel safe, secure and prepared for everything. I know I felt much the same around that time.

Yeah I remember with DS I quite literally had the besting instinct cleaned the house top to bottom and sure it was that night I had my show he arrived 2 days later. Maybe I'm just getting into a panic as well with DS being early. It was just such a weird feeling never had it with my other two almost like a feeling of impending doom events!

I absolutely knew when all of my dc were coming. I felt... different. It was obvious labour was going to start. I was wrong every time.

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 13/03/2015 11:58

I find this fascinating - I also cleaned the house entirely then went into labour.
Good luck Op!

Not labour but last week I told my dmum I felt lucky and was going to have a go on the lottery (I never play). She asked what numbers I had. I didn't put the lottery numbers on and forgot about the conversation. She rang me at huge weekend to say I had won her some money and thank you.

I have ummed and aahed about writing this as I am in no way a doctor and I don't want to be an alarmist mood killer, BUT I did read that a 'sense of impending doom' can be a preeclampsia symptom, and so when you used that phrase I thought I would mention it in case the info seems relevant to you.

Misslgl88 · 13/03/2015 12:53

Thanks for that piece of info komnu that's interesting to know. So far all things have been clear nothing in urine, blood pressure pretty constant throughout and no major or sudden swelling, headaches or flashing lights. I do have the midwife again on Tuesday so will see what my bp and every thing is like then.
I'm fine today not got the weird feeling anymore it was just so so weird!

Glad you feel well, all the best with the rest of your pregnancy and then your lovely newborn!

Fluffyears · 13/03/2015 16:59

Aw hope things go well. Giving birth now would be ok though.

Misslgl88 · 13/03/2015 17:15

Thanks everyone. Yeah I know things would be ok I just worry as DS was jaundiced for quite a while after I had him it's such a worry!
