i mean really why won't he agree to a head to head with milliband? seems at the very least like exceptionally bad pr.

Tbh I'm not a big fan of the debates over here. They work in the US because they are electing a president and it's therefore the person you are electing. Here, we are electing a party to lead the country rather than a person - the person at the head of it can change during office (eg Blair to Brown).

They've only ever happened once. It's not some important long-standing feature.

Blair wouldn't countenance taking part in any either.

i can't say i'll be glued to them myself either but if you accept the principle of having a tv debate as cameron has, surely the logical conclusion is that you should have one with the one person who's vying for the same job as you. i understand it's not presidential but to be fair a lot rides on the personality of the leader. i would have thought what he was doing would see him plummet in the polls but that hasn't happened. i find it really odd.

i think there's a difference in blair refusing and cameron refusing to be honest because there have already been tv debates before the last election and they were popular. looks like the pm is running from something that will expose him to millions of people!

And Cameron slagged him off for it. Hypocrite.

I think it shows how much Cameron thinks he has the media in his pocket that he thinks he can dictate his own terms.
This is how they are doing it... If he doesn't want t that's fine but he can't dictate like a spoilt child!
