I'm Welsh. I lived in Cornwall till I was 4. Then Devon as a teenager. Then Cornwall again from 20-24.

And I JUST DON'T KNOW. I think my loyalties lie with Devon's cream first then jam if I'm at home. But if someone presented me with a tray of scones, butter, jam and cream in a naice posh cream tea establishment, I'd go butter, jam, cream. I'd also be very happy. I do know it has to be clotted. There is NO PLACE for whipped cream on a scone.

I think I need to lie down. I also need to bake some scones.

But definitely - cream first , then jam on a scone that rhymes with "gone". The ones that rhyme with "phone" are far inferior.
