Car in garage problems

so I took car in garage because it had problem with a engine hunting and starting problem.
Guy put in new fuel filter and said he'd drove it round and it's fine come and collect. 10 mins later he rang to say tried again and is still doing same problem! Said next thing was injectors(which I thought it might) so I said to order and put them in then.
So he's put the injectors in and I collected her! Driving home I noticed a rattle noise(that wasn't there before) so took it back!
At this point I didn't want him to touch it again and after a while gave him the chance to put it right! This was Thursday.
He rang Friday night 7pm to say he's baffled as he cant find the problem of it rattling!!!

So now Monday and I'm going to ring him to say I will be collecting at 3pm and if the problem isn't sorted I want a reimbursement to take it to mini garage and get it sorted.

Am I being unreasonable? What would you do?

When the problem with your car is a rattle it can be very hard to fix it. It often becomes a case of trying out various remedies until one works.

By all means get a second opinion, but if it's impossible to identify the cause except on a trial and error basis, you can't expect the garage to stand the cost of an attempted remedy that doesn't work, as no garage will want to do the job.

I work in the industry and YAB (only a bit) U! Car problems are very frustrating but like a pp a lot of problems are trial and error when trying to identify the cause.

I would be tempted to stick with the same garage as you may go back to square one at a new place.

Also bear in mind that Mini dealers/main dealers charge a small fortune per hour for labour.

I hope you get it sorted soon, I've had enough car problems to last a lifetime so know how annoying (and costly) repairs can be
