to ask what you would get a British ex-pat as a wedding present?

DH's mate is getting married in the States, where he has lived for a few years, to an American lass. They don't seem to have a wedding list, but we want to get them a fairly decent present (say £50-80). It must be light, as we will be taking it personally on the plane.
All ideas welcome!

I was wondering if you were one of my guests but nope, we are in Asia.

We don't have a list as we don't want people to spend yet more money when they are already travelling to the wedding. A few people have insisted and asked what we would like and we've tried to come up with ideas for small or portable things we would keep. The one thing I really want is a teapot as we don't have one but everyone says that is too boring!

Honestly, just ask them! Be prepared for a 'no, really, please don't put yourself out' response though Smile

What about something typically British? I don't mean something naff like a model black taxi or red London bus. I expect you would not be able to take plants or seeds. Framed picture of somewhere that the groom likes / was brought up? Theatre tickets?
