nunkspugget · 08/03/2015 20:00

Did you ask where the £300 went???

Totality22 · 08/03/2015 20:00

I know fags are expensive bit still.

Maybe drugs?

StackladysMorphicResonator · 08/03/2015 20:00

If you don't want to/can't afford to don't do it. It's not compulsory.

ilovesooty · 08/03/2015 20:01

Don't. You won't get it back.

FuckItBucket · 08/03/2015 20:01

Maybe they had debts or maybe soemthing broke in the house that need replacing quickly.

If you know the person surely you could probably guess if they've pissed the money up the wall or not.

If you have the spare money to lend and want to then go for it. If you don't want to say no.

You say you don't care but the fact you started a thread asking says you do Grin

AlternativeNickname · 08/03/2015 20:04

Haha, I wonder if this person is someone I know who does exactly the same thing.

YANBU, you're not doing them any favours by lending them money. The problem with the person I know is that they spend most of their £300 paying off what they borrowed the week before.

stqueen · 08/03/2015 20:06

Only lend if you're happy not to see the money again.

I wouldn't.

YANBU.

ghostspirit · 08/03/2015 20:11

ha i have never lent the person money they should know by now. maybe i was the last hope haha. yeah i would have thought its gone on gambling.

i dont care. but i can still moan... actually i do really because of the kids.. but like someone said not doing them any favours

Not a lot of information to go on. I'll chuck in an early 'no, don't do it OP' and await further instructions.

iLoveMushrooms · 08/03/2015 20:39

donf lend what u cant afford to lose

ghostspirit · 08/03/2015 20:42

i can afford to loose 20. just dont want to be a mug

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 08/03/2015 20:44

Don't lend then, you won't get it back by the sound of it.

Sallyingforth · 08/03/2015 20:47

The answer I gave in a very similar situation was
"I'm sorry, but I wouldn't want to increase your debts by lending you the money. You'll just have even more to pay back."

SpecificOcean · 08/03/2015 22:59

Family yes. Anyone else sorry but no.

FuckItBucket · 08/03/2015 22:59

Did you lend it? Where did the money go?

Ragwort · 08/03/2015 23:03

Don't lend it - unless you can afford to give it away. If someone says they need food for their children then just buy the food.

I wouldn't even lend to family now - we lent a relative six week's rent so they could put a deposit down on a rental - never saw it again Sad (& they've since left the rental so never knew if they got the deposit back or not) - rather than cause a rift in the family we've just accepted that we've lost over £1k.

EveBoswell · 09/03/2015 07:37

You lent £300. You haven't had it returned yet. Do not lend any more yet.

ilovesooty · 09/03/2015 07:42

Eve I don't think the OP lent the original £300.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2015 07:43

Ragwort, that's horrible behaviour from your relatives.

ghostspirit · 09/03/2015 07:46

eve no i have not lent 300... bucket no i did not lend it not going to.

i wont buy them food either i think that sort of says well if ghost buys us 20.00 worth of food. then i can use this money for fags or gambling

OP posts:
owlborn · 09/03/2015 17:59

Did a bunch of bills just go out for them? I mean, DH put £290 into my bank account on Friday. My standing orders go out on 10th of each month and they will pretty much eat that money.

Alternatively, the £300 went to pay off loans, or something disastrous happened (car breaking down, washing machine going, flood in flat) that ate it.

I can see a lot of circumstances where £300 could go in days without being spent on some kind of drug and booze fuelled binge.

owlborn · 09/03/2015 18:01

As a note, I never loan money. I give money if I can afford to lose it, but loans lead only to stress and ill feeling. And if I do give the money away, I never enquire too closely about where it's gone.

Anything else needs to madness.

ghostspirit · 10/03/2015 07:42

i doubt if very much owl thye are always doing it every week almost. she used to ask me all the time but i asked questions about things and always said no so she gave up asking me. i think maybe she had just forgotten that i question things.
