Rigging the tombola

I'm probably very naive but I was gobsmacked today when a woman I know told me that she kept the top prize ticket in her pocket so that it couldn't be won! She had provided the top prize for the tombola and said she wasn't running the risk of it being won any time soon! Was IBU when I told her I wouldn't be buying a ticket for anything she had a hand in? She said all that mattered was raising money for the charity....

MyticalKings I kinda agree - so long as all the prizes are handed out at sensible intervals (eg two good prizes, one for the first half of tickets sold, other for the second) then so be it. I think people are able to see what counts as theft/cronyism/dishonesty readily enough.

Whenever I've had to organize raffles and tombola's, I've always avoided buying any tickets myself - as has everyone else directly involved - due to the potential social-embarrassment of winning something, which is a bit sad really, as most of the people who'd complain are those who seldom do any voluntary stuff.
