To eat 'corner' yoghurts like this?

CrohnicallyInflexible · 06/03/2015 18:42

DH, DD and I are eating yoghurts. DH has tipped all the crunchy flakes out of his corner into his yoghurt and mixed them in. He has taught DD to do the same. So DD told me to 'tip it in!'

However, I much prefer to eat mine by scooping a few crunchy bits on the spoon first, followed by yoghurt.

My reasoning is thus: crunchy bits might go soggy by the end if they are premixed. You get a fuller flavour, of crunchy bits and of yoghurt rather than crunchy-yoghurt-bits. You can vary the composition of each spoonful. And why would they have invented yoghurts with a separate pot of fruit compote if they were intended to be mixed? Surely they'd just put the compote in a layer at the bottom of the yoghurt like the Lidl Greek yoghurt ones!

To avoid any possible accusations of drip feeding, I quite possibly have Asperger's syndrome, so I would be interested to hear if this has any bearing on the method of eating yoghurt, and I couldn't be bothered to do a search to see if this exact AIBU had been asked before!

Its just occurred to me that I have never eaten one. But I used to eat all the choc off a kit kat before eating the wafer so I am guessing I would have specialist corner eating methods.

mickeyfartpants · 06/03/2015 19:28

No. No. Always separate. Why?

Because crunchy bits are chewed, and yoghurt is eaten with a "tup tup" motion. Who CHEWS yoghurt? Eurgh.

DoJo · 06/03/2015 19:59

In the original adverts, they always had a scoop of crunchy bits on the spoon, then dipped into the yoghurt - I assume that is how they intended them to be eaten!

MagelanicClouds · 06/03/2015 20:12

Yanbu, that's how I eat them op!
DH flips and tips and I tell him that if he wanted a jammy mixed yoghurt then the supermarket sells ready mixed ones a lot cheaper. He won't eat the crunchy ones which is fine by me as they're my fave and I know he won't be stealing them!

SoleSource · 06/03/2015 20:15

Greek style whipped corner yogurts RULE

YABU

Musicaltheatremum · 06/03/2015 20:46

Mix them up. YABU. :-)

munchkin2902 · 06/03/2015 21:08

Tip but DONT mix. Just sort of smooth the fruit/crunch over the top of the yoghurt. Then eat.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 06/03/2015 21:10

Agree. Tip but don't mix.

GoofyIsACow · 06/03/2015 21:13

I eat about 80% of the yoghurt on it's own, then... And only then, do i tip the crunchy/fruit into the remaining 20% of the yoghurt, meaning they stay crunchy or, if it is fruit, you get a strong fruity mix.

Mine is the only way to eat it... YABU

FuzzyHeaded · 06/03/2015 21:18

Crunch corners don't last long enough for the bits to go soggy in my experience. Grin

I tip and mix, but then try to get spoonfuls only of yoghurt to start with so that the density of chocolate-covered crispy things increases the closer to the end of the crunch corner I get...

Bodicea · 06/03/2015 21:57

I melt the crunchy chocolate bits in a seperate pot in the microwave for about 25 seconds, then tip the contents into the yoghurt. The chocolate melts into/ mixes better into the yoghurt that way. If you tip cold choc into cold yog you can't taste the choc properly.

PourMeSomethingStronger · 06/03/2015 22:01

My DH wouldn't touch the crunchy corners with a barge pole, but the way he eats fruit corners will blow your mind. He puts them in the freezer for half an hour before eating them, them eats a minute amount of fruit with every spoonful of yoghurt, so there's always loads of fruity stuff left at the end. Then he throws the rest of the fruit away. THE BEST BIT! AND HE THROWS IT AWAY!!!!! It's the cause of much consternation for me and I can't really be near him when he eats them any more.

mmgirish · 06/03/2015 22:52

I don't eat yoghurt but if I did I definitely wouldn't tip all the crunchy stuff in just to watch it go soggy!

Lozzapops · 06/03/2015 22:59

I don't like tipping the crunchy bits out, so I spoon them all into the yoghurt, Give it a stir so everything gets coated, then strategically eat my way around the crunchy bits until I have eaten as much yoghurt as possible, leaving me with a pile of lovely yoghurt-coated crunchiness. Mmmm, not had one of these for ages, really fancy one now!

cleanmyhouse · 06/03/2015 23:05

Yanbu.

Exactly the same reason why ketchup and mayonnaise should go in a little space at the edge of the plate, bolognese beside the spaghetti and not on top. Same goes with curry and rice. You need to be able to choose when to mix the two rather than throwing it all together.

ILoveFrogs · 06/03/2015 23:16

GoofyIsACow is right, everyone else is wrong! That is exactly how I eat mine, right down to the percentages Grin

TheCatsFlaps · 06/03/2015 23:18

YABU. I would go nuclear if I saw someone eat a yoghurt like you, OP. Tip the fucker!!!!

RaisingSteam · 06/03/2015 23:23

I have a health and safety warning here. The other day DH was trying to tip the crunchy bits into the yoghurt by flipping up the corner. OK he was standing near the fridge doing this. It must have been a defective aldi corner as it fought back, sprang out of his hand, soared through the air and landed... upside down on the toaster. Coating the floor, wall, fridge and DH on the way. Risky.

LittleMissIntrovert · 06/03/2015 23:24

With the fruit ones I tip and mix, but the crunchy ones are different.

I eat the yoghurt then the crunchy bits. But I like eating things seperately anyway, I have strange eating habits Grin

debbriana · 06/03/2015 23:37

I have always mixed them. It never crossed my mind to eat it separate.

holidaysarenice · 07/03/2015 00:49

For years I sieved the yoghurt bit!!!

Ludways · 07/03/2015 00:51

Crunchy ones, I tip and eat. Fruity ones I eat the yogurt then throw the rest in the bin, I hate jam!

Ludways · 07/03/2015 00:53

Actually, I do what lozza does, I spoon, I don't tip.

DIYandEatCake · 07/03/2015 01:55

LittleBearPad me too! I've never met anyone else who eats them like that (little dollop of fruit on yogurt, scoop from underneath so have fruit on top of yogurt on spoon). I'm really careful not to get streaks of fruit in the yogurt! It drives my dp crazy. I'm not at all neat or obsessive in other ways but there's something so satisfying about recreating the advert/lid pictureSmile
