Was this Mum rude or did I ask for it?

DD having a friend after school that has never been before. I texted the Mum saying was planning to get pizza in and is there anything that her DD specifically doesn't like. The mum texted back saying that they'd had pizza yesterday and could I give them something else.

I'm a bit gobsmacked. Was just wanting to find out if child didn't like mushrooms or pineapple. But then I did ask....

Why didn't you ask the kids what they fancied???

goldvelvet · 06/03/2015 20:23

"doesn't really like tomatoes."

Maybe why the mum gave you heads up about the pizza? (all be it not in the most tactful way)

Rollergirl1 · 06/03/2015 20:37

Someone: I asked my DD what her and her friend would like and she said pizza.

I plumped for spag bol, which our guest didn't eat much of as she "doesn't really like tomatoes."

You must tell the mother that. And that you were letting her know so she could give her child something else, as she must be hungry?

I asked my DD what her and her friend would like and she said pizza.

And this too. Grin

What Bowlersarm said ... Just do your own thing and never ask for parents input ...I would ask the dc themselves if there was anything they didn't like.
Parents would naturally tell you if there was any special dietary needs or allergies... No need to ask.

BuzzardBird · 07/03/2015 10:20

This is why I said you ask "any allergies or dislikes?" It cuts out all this angst. So simple, why do people make their lives more complicated?

DontDrinkandFacebook · 07/03/2015 10:23

She's being bloody cheeky.

greenfolder · 07/03/2015 10:44

hilarious. never ask i guess it the thing. my smallest would eat pizza everyday and it was always my go to option when the older ones had friends round.

like you care about nutritionally balancing their kids diets.

SistersOfPercy · 07/03/2015 11:28

She doesn't really like tomatoes? What does she think her pizza has on it then?

Purplepoodle · 07/03/2015 11:35

Little cheeky but not rude. She asked politely. All u had to say was sorry u had promised dd pizza
