I have now dropped the price of the application forms to £20 or two for £15, any takers?

FryOneFatManic · 06/03/2015 18:57

Don't forget, the £22,000 ^was a few years now.

I've just googled the pay scales and you'd be starting at about £25k at the grade for the ad I remember seeing. This grade is the equivalent of Executive Officer, the lowest grade that can be held accountable.

WhoCaresFolks · 10/03/2015 13:26

I'm open to the idea.

feckitall · 10/03/2015 14:05

Pick me..pick me....
Middle aged- check
Had family - check
In good health- check
Ambitious - check
Invisible - definitely!!!!!!!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/03/2015 14:14

Not me, I'm too boring.

helpmekeepstrong · 10/03/2015 14:36

Do you need GCSE Maths? That seems to be my stumbling block with many applications.

nochocolateforlentteacake · 10/03/2015 14:49

But do you get a gun or any cool gadgets? A shiny badge at least...or a business card (that'll be fun at the pta meetings).

YouTheCat · 10/03/2015 17:19

I like s pies.

This message will self-destruct in 5...4...3...

Jennyjenjenjen · 10/03/2015 18:04

lol etc. I was going to start a thread on this as my Dp mentioned the other day that they were thinking of recruiting on mumsnet. I wonder what they would want us to spy on... Can't imagine that any of us would be terribly inconspicuous in a terrorist cell. No offence!

Lovemycatsandkids · 10/03/2015 18:06

I shall say this only once!

YouTheCat · 10/03/2015 19:28

Oh I don't know. I get to overhear all kinds of stuff that I probably shouldn't purely because people don't even register that I'm there.

LarrytheCucumber · 10/03/2015 19:48

That's for me to know and you to find out.

nochocolateforlentteacake · 10/03/2015 20:49

cat, are you very very small, like a borrower?

YouTheCat · 10/03/2015 21:19

I am 4ft11 and 3 quarters. Grin

I am very unremarkable and easily overlooked.

Chipsahoythere · 10/03/2015 21:23

I got to the final stage of interviews.
Didn't get the job. Don't know why! In hindsight it was a good thing as I can't keep my mouth shut and the money was shit.

ipswichwitch · 10/03/2015 22:01

I'd be a great spy. I've had years of training in withstanding torture techniques, courtesy of my DC - most notably sleep deprivation. If I got caught by the enemy I could just laugh in their faces if they try that one. I've survived 3 years of it so far!

nochocolateforlentteacake · 11/03/2015 08:20

Ooh, chips, spill the beans!

IP - you are a rookie! Wait until you've had ten years of it!

I'm very very nosey, can go without food and sleep for ages, and can go deaf at will. All good skills. I used to be able to drink anyone under the table (not a proud boast) although these days, half a sherry and I'm plastered.

Charlesroi · 11/03/2015 09:05

I bet it's just as boring as working anywhere else. 360 appraisals, bitching about the state of the kitchen and the tea kitty, bitching about the money, trying to dodge Mavis from Accounts and her endless bloody collections, micro-managers, three hour meetings ...
At least you wouldn't have to talk shop at the Christmas do. Grin

they wouldn't have me anyway

dougierose · 11/03/2015 09:26

If I join MI6 does that mean I get to work with Matthew Macfadyen when he was young and still good looking?

DancingDays · 11/03/2015 09:38

If a MNer became a spy would they still be allowed on MN or would they wipe the history?

I would be shit at it, my memory is like a sieve. I would end up chatting to the person I was suppose to be spying on or walk in and go "why the fuck did I come here?" or chant "I must remember to not tell anyone I'm a spy".

caryam · 11/03/2015 09:42

My father was a private detective. Its not like the TV. I suspect working for MI5 would be nothing like we imagine.

ElsaShmelsa · 11/03/2015 09:49

Well, I have the highest level of Security Clearance to do my job and I don't even know why! So I must be a such a good spy that I don't even realize I'm doing it!!! Grin
