Can someone explain why this is offensive, please?

(I think I agree that it might be, but am not 100% sure why I find it distasteful)

Ohfourfoxache · 05/03/2015 10:02

Jesus wept.

It just isn't funny, which I assume it was meant to be?

Can't believe they give such tripe publication space Hmm

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/03/2015 10:18

Lily..well it says you don't need to bother taking single mums out on dates because they are so desperate for sex that's all they'll want. For starters.

CupidStuntSurvivor · 05/03/2015 10:19

And of course the notion that single mums will be so grateful that you've gotten them out of the house that it doesn't matter what you do with them.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 05/03/2015 10:20

Single mums are so grateful for attention that they'll do anything you want them to, you can just use them like a blow up doll and they'll thank you for it, because otherwise they'd be watching Peppa Pig. That maybe. Seriously, you have to ask??

cleanmyhouse · 05/03/2015 10:28

Jesus. What rattled my cage this morning. Sorry about the effing.

Bluepants · 05/03/2015 10:32

That's not the real Metro newspaper!

happybubblebrain · 05/03/2015 10:33

I'm a single mum.
And I'm crap in bed.
They are wrong.

LilyTheSlink · 05/03/2015 10:37

Would it be offensive if it were written as "Why I, as a single mum, am great in bed"? (assuming it's written by a single mum who considers herself to be...)

bananaramadramallama · 05/03/2015 10:49

happybubble Grin

clean - it was the 'hope her tits fall off' thing - I think that's an awful expression; your righteous anger is obviously completely right though, and the f-ing is fine too!

dillite · 05/03/2015 11:01

If that was supposed to be funny, I'm not laughing. And sex is the last thing on my wish list for when I am alone. Museums, galleries, and movies/ plays on the other hand is at the top.

And don't married mums not carry wet wipes around? Or want sex?

dillite · 05/03/2015 11:04

Oh, and a dead brick would be more fun in bed than me.

CupidStuntSurvivor · 05/03/2015 11:08

Bluepants what makes you think this isn't the real Metro?

Showy · 05/03/2015 11:17

Single mothers are all one homogeneous squirming mass aren't they? Rendered identical by the lack of Consistent Penis in their lives.

It's a pile of reductive bollocks. And I'm not and never have been a single Mum. I am great in bed btw. I can sleep for 10hrs straight and still have room for several hours more.

CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac · 05/03/2015 11:23

I'm a single mum and I CHOOSE to be celibate.

I'm not boring, frigid or a man hater (I do like to ogle the occasional hairy chest on tv) I just have no need, at this point in my life, for sex.

Frankly I'd rather watch Peppa Pig Grin

there are losers who prey on the venerability of some single mums that article just seems to encourage these losers to seek out sm

MrsTawdry · 05/03/2015 11:44

Writer of this offensive piece of crap is KATY HORWOOD. She does a "great" line in pseudo "fun" articles about women. Examples of her previous work include

10 Things only women with big boobs know
Why having a threesome should be your new year's resolution
How to keep your husband interested (clue it doesn't involve deep and meaningful chats)

What a TWAT she is.

I'm going to send her a message explaining why she should not write this tosh.

CelibacyCakeAndElevatorMuzac · 05/03/2015 11:44

Ah she's desperate for internet fame, I see.

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COME ON AND POST THIS. WHAT A VILE ARTICLE.

CatsCantTwerk · 05/03/2015 11:46

Sorry I didn't mean to shout Blush

Showy · 05/03/2015 11:51

Why does she dislike women so much?

Casmama · 05/03/2015 11:56

Not much amused by the link at the bottom either!

Balaboosta · 05/03/2015 12:41

Can't see the problem. I'm a single mum, sexually active - this is spot on for me... Chucked a guy recently who took too long to get to the point. Our time is precious!

Balaboosta · 05/03/2015 12:45

Given all the negativity attached to the term "single mother" I'm dismayed that so many of you have a problem with us being portrayed as confident, up-front and fun-loving. Jealousy? Prudery? Or just miserablist? Fuck you, I'm off to get my knickers off!
