not to have told my friend a secret about her son

I have found out (from my son) that my friend's son is going to pack his job in soon. I know this will really worry my friend and I don't know whether to tell her. He hates his current job but he hasn't got anything else lined up. If I tell my friend she might be able to persuade him not to (which might not work) or she might be able to start helping him sooner rather than later in what he decides to do next. I am reluctant to interfere, but feel bad knowing this when my friend doesn't.

I think I'd keep quiet.

Everyotherusernameistaken · 02/03/2015 20:21

Nah. He'll only end up changing his mind and you'll end up in a mess

Duckdeamon · 02/03/2015 20:21

Don't interfere, neither of these DSs would thank you!

ThingummyJigg · 02/03/2015 20:21

Say nothing.

You will be breaking your son's trust.
It will cause a problem with your son and your friend's son.
It will cause a problem with your friend and her son.
It is none of your business.
Your friend's son might change his mind.
Your friend will worry longer if she finds out sooner.
It's your friend's son's decision and I wouldn't stay in a job I hated if I didn't have to.
Your friend might shoot the messenger.
He might have a job lined up he's said nothing about.
He might find a job and then hand in his notice.

Don't interfere.

NerrSnerr · 02/03/2015 20:21

Keep out of it. If he wants his mum to know he'll tell her.

JellyMould · 02/03/2015 20:22

Keep out of it.

It depends how well you know your friend, if it was my best friend I'd say something, if it's just a "friend" but not someone who is on that friend level I would leave it.

It's none of your business But understand why you would want to say something.

How old is your friends DS?

Leeds2 · 02/03/2015 20:24

Say nothing.

LionsDontWeaveLentils · 02/03/2015 20:26

All you have is hearsay from your son. Not really a reliable source and just because your son's friend has said he's going to pack his job in to a mate doesn't mean he's actually going to do it.

I think worrying your friend is unnecessary. I also sort of think that it's his job so not really anyone else's business what he does with it.

Andcake · 02/03/2015 20:26

If he's got a job he's an adult - it's none of yours or hers business. Just forget it.

mrsmootoo · 02/03/2015 20:31

OK, thanks, yes my gut feeling was not to say anything, which you have all confirmed!
