Haha whole octopus!

I have to say asda have been not too bad with substitutions for me although In this weeks shop id ordered ordinary cadburys choccie fingers but alas not any normal chocolate, even double chocolate or the other fancy ones were available so I ended up with white choccie ones , I hate White chocolate so was swearing quite a bit at them Grin

I can put up with a few substitutions for the convenience of delivery. I haven't found Asda too bad, I had four subs yesterday and all were the practically identical item just slightly different flavour/pack size.

TheBooMonster · 09/03/2015 01:06

Asda substituted all of my nonalcoholic beverages for alcoholic ones on an order that was otherwise basically full of maternity pads and disposable knickers!

The strangest sub Tesco has ever done was some sort of blue veined cheese in place of ricotta, and somehow DH and I both missed it, it's still sitting in the fridge...

Ordered a crate of lager from Asda, got nothing in its place. Apparently there was no suitable substitutes. Never ordered from them again!

Used to get our shopping delivered from Asda and can you imagine my horror when instead of the pepperoni pizza I'd been looking forward to that night as a cheat tea on my diet I was substituted a... Bag of salad! Couldn't work out if I should be annoyed or thankful to whoever made that choice!

Have stopped using online shopping now as my pet hate was them always delivering items with the soonest possible best before date on!

LittleMissRayofHope · 09/03/2015 03:42

The dates do bother me. I use Tesco and frequently look forward to the substitutions as like others it's often bigger and better.

I did order Sangenic cartridges once, 3 pack for £10.
Got 3x tommee tippee toddler straw spout drinking bottles instead..... DS was 2 months so wasn't impressed at all!!

Otherwise online shopping just takes the hassle away!

PorridgeBrain · 09/03/2015 04:10

In my opinion Asda are appalling for providing vaguely sensible substitutes as they are for providing decent sell by dates and ensuring all of your shopping you asked for turns up and doesn't go AWOL.

Tesco, in my experience, are very good at all three!

We've had mostly sane substitutions lately from Tesco. I think training may have improved. The worst instance I recall was when we ordered a simple loaf of white bread and they were out of stock of that loaf. The delivery arrived with no bread because"there was nothing available in store that could be substituted" I wanted to drive to the store instantly to either see this completely empty bread aisle or to photograph the evidence if there were some bread products in store. But life is too short.
