I bet Nigel Farage weeps into his beer when he sees these photos

Daily Mail link by the way.

OP posts:

I don't know if NF supports them - I was surmising (as I said) on the OP's link between Farage and Pegida

SlaggyIsland · 01/03/2015 10:57

Good for everyone who demonstrated against those horrible Pegida thugs.

SunnyBaudelaire · 01/03/2015 10:58

lol I particularly like the one of the thug shouting at that poor horse.

mrsruffallo · 01/03/2015 11:01

It's a tiny march, very small minority of people support this movement. The vast majority of people in Britain are tolerant.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 01/03/2015 11:04

How about changing the thread title to "...fine specimens of manhood should make us proud to be human"? Periga and their supporters make me despair for humanity, british, english, Scottish whatever.

SirChenjin · 01/03/2015 11:15

Or fine specimens of humans - given that there were women there as well?

ChameleonCircuit · 01/03/2015 11:16

Why did some of the Newcastle Unites demonstrators hide their faces? In my experience covering your face like that means you're up to no good. (And before anyone says it, I'm not talking veils, they're hooded with bandanas/scarves covering their faces)

Nancy66 · 01/03/2015 11:21

Getting George Galloway to speak wasn't a good idea.

LittleFluffyMoo · 01/03/2015 11:22

The vast majority of people are tolerant, but they're not the ones in the papers or on the telly. The effect of showing these people is very intimidating. IMHO I think that they shouldn't even be given the publicity.

I love that Britain is so tolerant, and hate that these charmers are making people feel uncomfortable.

LittleFluffyMoo · 01/03/2015 11:22

Can't stand George Galloway though - he's part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Bettercallsaul1 · 01/03/2015 11:26

What depressing pictures.

HedgehogsDontBite · 01/03/2015 11:31

That article does make me proud. The fact that 2000 ordinary people turned up to peacefully demonstrate in the face of such aggression and hatred is amazing. Well met people of Newcastle. You're far braver than I am.

SlaggyIsland · 01/03/2015 11:33

Chameleon I couldn't find any pictures of the Newcastle Unites demonstrators covering their faces?

gallicgirl · 01/03/2015 11:37

I think Farage and UKIP just gives these thugs the confidence to speak out and show their violent tendencies.

UKIP probably have no connections or certainly wouldn't show any support for Pegida but the fact that UKIP spout anti-immigrant rhetoric lets idiots think they can get away with blatant racist behaviour and thuggery. I wonder how many of these people have criminal records for violence?

Frolicacid · 01/03/2015 12:34

YABU and a bit ignorant to think that being English and British are the same thing.

FlankShaftMcWap · 01/03/2015 12:54

I don't see how neither side came out well, it was the Pegida/EDL lot that were fighting between themselves long after the counter demo had gone home. No one from opposing sides reached each other so no violence there. Not sure how Newcastle Unites were implicated in goings on that they were nowhere near Confused

As for covering faces. Unless you're comfortable with your face appearing on redwatch with possible details of your address/place of work and even pictures of your children, then it's wise to cover your face at a counter demo Sad

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 01/03/2015 12:58

What Flank said. I remember back in my more radical days being told that we were all being filmed by mi5 from office blocks. (Nothing wild, just anti student loan March)

SuburbanRhonda · 01/03/2015 13:36

I admire George Galloway, too.

He has said some things I don't agree with, but anyone who can turn the tables on the U.S. Senate after being accused in the Oil-for-Food scandal in the way he did, making the senators look like a bunch of incompetent fools for making unfounded accusations, will have my vote every time.

mrsruffallo · 01/03/2015 14:13

He's done a lot of fucked up shit since then Rhonda. I would be surprised that any woman would vote for the twat.

ImABigOleBadLass · 01/03/2015 14:16

Screaming at a horse I hope it kicked him up the arse

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/03/2015 14:39

Being British and English are not the same but neither are being English and being a bigoted racist. Thank goodness these Nazi scum are a minority.

I made the mistake of looking at the comments on the DM page. Every reasonable, non-racist comment literally had hundreds of red arrows and every pro Pegida/Ukip/BNP comment was being merrily green arrowed away. It is a worry.

SirChenjin · 01/03/2015 14:48

That's the DM for you though. There are extreme views on both sides of the fence.

PacificDogwood · 01/03/2015 15:03

I fear that for every person being prepared to be seen on a Pegida march there are many who sympathise but do not dare to show that in public. They are 'brave' enough to post a comment in the DM though Hmm

AdoraBell · 01/03/2015 15:25

Slaggy there are a few, scroll down and look at the faces in the peaceull crowd. There are some men who have covered their faces almost entirely.

Maybe in this case it's fear?

SuburbanRhonda · 01/03/2015 15:35

mrsruffalo, I am horrified by some of his views. Especially the comments about rape.

Thankfully we can vote for whomever we like, regardless of what others think, though I don't live in his constituency so am unlikely to actually ever vote for him in an election.
