To think sand bags and blitz spirit as bar decor is a bit tasteless?

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Well, I'm in my fifties and I think it looks really interesting! But then I like a cafe in Stratford upon Avon that is forties-themed with ration-book covers on the menu etc. There are loads of places that are themed on 40s, 50s, 60s. Why single this one out? Or are you trying to advertise this place via MN? Smile

God no! No link to the place whatsoever, except the one in my post obvs Grin

Maybe I've just overdosed on all the horrible conflicts going on in the world, but sandbags just seem thoughtless.

I have no problem with a forties theme per say.

Blitz spirit style is pretty fashionable though, our local Steam Railway does a couple of WW2 weekends every year and it's really popular.
Anyway I know of 2 pubs that are in converted underground toilets and run along that theme so maybe it's not that tasteless Grin
It looks like a lovely unusual place - not sure about the drinks they've used to advertise it though - garden peas in a cocktail?

Per se, thanks auto correct!

As a teen our favourite pizza place was done on a blitz theme. We loved going down into the basement, and there were pretend windows which would flicker as "bombs" came down, and every now and then the whole electricity would flicker off.
They had sandbags/gasmasks/wardens' hats etc. The atmostphere was lovely.

And they did nice pizza Grin

What about a normal pub showing Dad's Army?
