I agree with Diane

They are dodgy and despicable.

douchbag · 01/03/2015 12:18

What's the group called on fb?

fluffymouse · 01/03/2015 12:51

Dax's tale of new York

I see they posted on that page they now have no intention of giving any money to the charity.

MistressMia · 01/03/2015 13:07

I don't understood why anybody felt motivated to give money to them in the first place. They both had good paying jobs and appear to have supportive family and friends. They would have had access to funds, albeit in the form of loans, either commercial or private.

There are a zillion other more deserving causes that cry out for money daily. They are an odious couple but the people who donated were idiots too. At the very least they should have waited to see how the situation panned out. It wasn't a life or death situation where treatment was being withheld for lack of funds.

Ah but daddy needed panties and mummy needed a boobsucker.

PerryPears · 01/03/2015 13:23

I had a preemie, and yes you leave work one day unexpectedly (and can lose out on holiday pay), yes you have all your usual outgoings to pay as well as the travel / parking of an extended hospital stay. It doesn't cost 10 grand though if your accommodation and medical bills are covered.

I'd rather donate to Bliss, Tommy's etc than to people I don't know.

I agree with the posters who said these fraudsters should be prosecuted. Utter scum.

PerryPears · 01/03/2015 13:47

I was reading an article online (so no idea if true or not) that she didn't have fit to fly and was therefore not insured. It's one thing to give birth out of the blue, but I can't understand the mindset of being told not to go and going anyway, if true.

JoanHickson · 01/03/2015 13:51

Have you got a link to the article?

Koalafications · 01/03/2015 13:52

Bloody hell brokenhearted I bet that's so they can charge money. I'm sure tat photos put on Facebook are the property of Facebook, I may be wrong though.

Hideous people. Would be very interested to see the outcome if they were investigated.

YouAreMyRain · 01/03/2015 14:02

There's a link on the fb page

thoth · 01/03/2015 14:04

Hmm they need legal advice- you cannot copyright photos taken by someone else in a public place.

thoth · 01/03/2015 14:05

and yes koala, any picture put on fb belongs to fb. in their t&cs.

PerryPears · 01/03/2015 14:08

Ignore me, looks like she got fit to fly but was NOT insured. Although different articles say different things

storify.com/han_kirk/dax-s-tale

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/03/2015 14:10

So they knew they were having a baby and were having a holiday in New York before he was born? Unlucky that he arrived prem but if the insurance has been paid out why do they need money? Poor people don't holiday in New York and they would have had to buy baby stuff at some point anyway.
They should give every penny to charity.

fluffymouse · 01/03/2015 14:38

perry there are a lot of inconsistencies in the articles but according to them on the fb group they had a fit to fly note and insurance, and the insurance is covering all medical costs (though this information was not initially forthcoming). They continued to collect donations even after it was confirmed they would not have any medical expenses.

Now there is a deafening silence as to what was been done with the money.

Koalafications · 01/03/2015 15:08

Thanks thoth I was sure I had read that.

Clearly this pair are aware of that...

Hunnyangel80 · 02/03/2015 10:13

It was much more than 12 grand!! They scammed awful ppl poor baby

JoanHickson · 02/03/2015 10:23

They have released a statement. Clearly they thought their preterm baby would be comfortable and enabled to get into a good routine by travelling to a studio full of people on This Morning by train and staying in a hotel, within days of his release from hospital. The fame priority meant they couldn't deal with their gratitude to the charity that helped them.

OhBuggerItAgain · 02/03/2015 12:32

didnt they get £5k to Katies personal paypal address, then they set up the gofundme(?) where they got around £13k? and then other fund raising around the home town etc?

dont quote me on the figures, am just trying to remember what was done

TheFairyCaravan · 02/03/2015 12:35

Yes, OhBugger they did.
