The dad is fame hungry.
I like the mum though, glad Dax is home and well, do wonder where all the donations will be spent though, probably on Dads gym!

Koalafications · 28/02/2015 14:01

Scots no, no. Next baby will be Nikkei.

HibernoCaledonian · 28/02/2015 14:11

MrsFionaCharming - Me too! I wondered if it was Jadzia, Ezri, Curzon or any of the others. Grin

DoJo · 28/02/2015 14:25

Mr Johnston added: 'We want to express our gratitude to Allianz for their tremendous help, as well as all the kind strangers who have donated nearly £12,000 to help my family.
'Without this money I don't know what we would've done. It went towards living costs as we had only taken four days worth of clothes, plus food and all of the vital things Dax needed.'

Looks like they blew twelve grand on clothes and food, unless there was a lot of additional stuff that the baby needed which wasn't covered by the insurance.

JoanHickson · 28/02/2015 14:35

Have a look at their Facebook pages. They are getting lots of new furniture and electric appliances. I am guessing the public are paying, seeing as the couple had no maternity fund saved up and were cap in hand.

fluffymouse · 28/02/2015 17:19

dojo how surprising that there was nothing left for ronald MacDonald house after greedy mcgreedy had used it for 'living expenses'. Since they had free accomodation, over 1,000 a week seems pretty excessive. Very crass of them.

fluffymouse · 28/02/2015 17:21

That 12,000 also does not include the donations that were given direct to their PayPal account and direct to the gym. I wonder how much the true total is?

MrsFionaCharming · 28/02/2015 17:36

Hiberno I was hoping for Ezri (who might be my favourite just because people say we look alike...)

pudseypie · 28/02/2015 17:47

As someone who has stayed in a Ronald Mcdonald house and regularly donates it makes me feel sick that the money hasn't all gone to them, if what I'm reading here is correct. They are a fantastic charity and deserve every support.

JoanHickson · 28/02/2015 18:30

You could post a question regarding the excess money for Ronald Mcdonald House on the Facebook page. Be warned asking that type of question will cause you be branded a troll and your post deleted.

SaggyAndLucy · 28/02/2015 19:00

12 grand on 6 weeks stay? did they stay at the Hilton??

Koalafications · 28/02/2015 19:28

No, saggy they stayed at the Ronald McDonald house.

FarFromAnyRoad · 28/02/2015 19:35

Trouble is these people are totally shameless. They seem to be almost entirely without morals so as Joan says above - they just call names and shout troll then delete - a clear sign of guilt if ever there was one. Really the whole thing wants investigating on an official level but who's going to do that? Nobody. An awful lot of gullible, well meaning softies have donated to this grabby couple and that makes me so mad - I hate that people have been scammed over this and still the parents won't explain themselves.

fluffymouse · 28/02/2015 19:43

Joan I believe 'haters' is the term they use to anyone who dares question where the money went on the facebook page. Truly classy.

TheFairyCaravan · 28/02/2015 19:45

How come that DM article says the nursery was all done before they went New York yet their friend and employer, Richard, told everyone on Fb they had nothing for Dax and needed money for it?

They are lying scum, the lot of them!

Totality22 · 28/02/2015 19:53

Is Dax his actual name? Or a nickname?

WayfaringStranger · 28/02/2015 20:01

For the baby's sake, I'm glad he's home and healthy. No comment on his father, although the mother comes across as very nice.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 28/02/2015 20:30

Would the money have covered the couples bill at home.

I suspect the mother would have automaticity been able to take ML, but what about the fathers income.

Rent/morgage still needs to be paid, so does council tax, water, gas, electric and tv licence.

Why are people criticising the babies name, it may not be to my taste but I would not judge them over it.

Koalafications · 28/02/2015 20:34

Rent/morgage still needs to be paid, so does council tax, water, gas, electric and tv licence.

Bloody hell, they must live in a mansion if their bills are £12,000 for six weeks!

TheFairyCaravan · 28/02/2015 20:45

Their friend and Katie's employer, Richard, said that Katie was only going to be getting "basic maternity pay". He could have paid her a bit more I presume, but it was easier to go cap in hand to the public.

When they first set up the fundraising page they wanted to cover plane tickets for family members to fly out. Cabin crew members offered to take stuff out for them if it could be got to the airport, but no they wanted cash. At one point it was said that it was a shame Max Clifford was in jail because he could have made them some proper money! Shock

LuluJakey1 · 28/02/2015 20:52

She seems nice, genuinely nice and dignified, not interested in making a show of herself. I sort of feel a bit sorry for him- bit of a sight really and suspect he thinks he is something to look at. Those t-shirts are just dreadful. There has been speculation about him looking for minor celeb status but with that voice it will never happen.

Anyway, money aside and all the grabby stuff that went with it and unanswered questions, glad the baby is ok and home. It must have been a worrying few days when he was born.

SurlyCue · 28/02/2015 21:10

Rent/morgage still needs to be paid, so does council tax, water, gas, electric and tv licence.

At a cost of £12k over less than 2 months? If those are their normal monthly expenses then they are earning shitloads, certainly enough to have savings that would cover 6/8 weeks of not working.

PiranhaBrothers · 28/02/2015 22:49

Katie seems a nice woman, it's Dick and Dumb that got my back up playing for publicity.

Wasn't there talk about setting up a new charidee, The Dax Foundation?

Why on earth it was necessary to do that when there is a perfectly good RM foundation already set up to receive donations lord only knows. It's not like they needed a memorial charity, fortunately Dax is healthy and well. Yet another way of keeping Daddy's name in the limelight no doubt.

If they did set up a 'foundation' it's just a matter of time before one of them starts drawing a salary off it.

JollyFrog · 28/02/2015 23:08

What made me cringe on TM was him saying 'WE were having contractions' 'WE were in labour'
Hmm

DianeLockhart · 01/03/2015 00:36

I honestly think these scumbags should be investigated for fraud and should face criminal charges.
