Tutor for Yr 2 DS

My DS is just 7 and in yr 2. He is struggling with literacy and is below expectation according to the teacher. We do stuff at home but he isnt keen as just wants to play lego etc after a day in school.

AIBU to get a tutor on a temporary basis to help him catch up- is that ridiculous? I hate the thought of putting pressure on him at all but on the flip side dont want him to fall behind.
He had ELS support in the past but thats not been offered this year.

Rather than get a tutor could you maybe invest in some of the reading resources for primary age children?

A tutor seems a bit much at that age.

I think at that age a little and often is better than 1 hours tuition a week. I don't see how that would make a lot of difference. Your money would be better spent on books/apps etc that would appeal to him and match his interests and which he could do for 20 mins every day.

An hour a week with a dyslexia trained teacher would be worth it but a tutor who would do more of the same stuff as in school would not be worth it.
