to think if you are 10 months late with a birthday treat, you should go where the recipient wants?

my dm offers to take me dc to london for their birthday, surely to a venue, ovbiously within reason, of their choice.

dd had two art exhibitions she suggested, fair enough dm wil only take her to one but dm actually didnt fancy one and said the one she did fancy

i just think she is getting more difficult and surely the choice should have been dd's

it was the same btw previoulsly. my dm got to choose completely, as she did for my other dc

But the dc are going somewhere they want?

Tbh on face value I think it's fine. Maybe they should have stated a preference but I don' think it's UR to just do one.

I'm assuming there is previous issues tree though which makes it irritate a little?

Excuse the multiple typos Blush

yes, i know i am wrong and should be grateful, i guess i feel you should make the sacrifice

She is making a sacrifice, taking children to something she wasn't going to do otherwise.

msgrinch · 25/02/2015 18:20

Sorry can't see the problem. She's taking your child where she wants to go. Hmm

Fanfeckintastic · 25/02/2015 18:21

My dad would be like that! He (very kindly) minds my 3 year old DD once a week and they're like siblings "grandad wouldn't go to the castle we had to walk in the rose gardens" etc! He'll always do and watch whatever he wants but to be honest it makes a nice change from DPs lovely family granting DDs every wish!

HoraceCope · 25/02/2015 18:30

it seems to me if you take them to a birthday treat, what you want to do shouldnt be the main consideration, but perhaps I am being unrealistic

if I was taking someone for a birthday treat, I would take them somewhere that they wanted to go to, but that I was also happy to go to.

HoraceCope · 25/02/2015 18:36

fair enough augustas, art exhibitions are exhausting I agree, particularly with dd, plenty of refreshments required
