What is wrong with these people? Just had someone overtake me in a 30 while I was doing 30. I was keeping a safe distance when its wet. They overtook me, almost hit me, slammed on the breaks, causing me to hit my breaks, driver the other side of the road was almost hit I beeped my horn at him and he did a rude hand. All to get one car further ahead!

This gives me the rage. Angry

The80sweregreat · 25/02/2015 08:24

Annoys the life out of me too. Driving these days has turned into a race to be at the front. No patience, people driving like maniacs. Its a nightmare.
Glad your ok.

Sophieelmer · 25/02/2015 08:27

Some people don't like to see a safe space left between cars, it makes them irrational.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/02/2015 08:31

This is why we have dashcams at work. There is of course a sign on the vehicle, but it's not very big.

Number of claims in our business unit YTD: about a dozen. Number of faults: 0.

GlaceCherries · 25/02/2015 08:32

This happened to us on the M4 at 70 mph. I think the other driver must have thought we cut him up (obviously I don't think we did, can't think why else he would behave so dangerously, and even then he was such a tool!) so he subsequently overtook us and slammed his brakes on, gesticulating all the while. Then drove off at high speed once he'd made his point. Nice fellow that one Hmm

Hope you're ok OP.

SasBel · 25/02/2015 08:46

Not being unreasonable at all.
Having recently moved to the south east of england from rural scotland, I have to say that there are a few selfish ignoramouses driving around.
In the space of a month I had a taxi pull a U turn straight towards me as I was doing 60mph on an A road, watched the landrover ahead of me overtake a micra as the lady was pulling out on the same A road, and been overtaken in a 30mph zone whilst doing 30mph. Highway code gets ignored, and I am terrified of driving around with my 3 under 5's. May have to buy a tank.....

Nancy66 · 25/02/2015 08:58

they're twats. Ditto the arseholes who then accelerate when you go to overtake them on the motorway.

IndridCold · 25/02/2015 09:52

We are doing quite a lot of motorway travel at the moment, and we tend to use cruise control. It really highlights how weirdly and inconsistently other people drive.

Hoppinggreen · 25/02/2015 09:57

Break what?

Cobain · 25/02/2015 10:04

I drive two cars and it happens a lot when I am in the smaller car, it worse when they brake and then go slower than the original speed.

Sleepytea · 25/02/2015 10:09

I noticed this on the motorway this weekend. There were a handful of drivers who came tearing up behind me, overtook me, pulled in and then eased off so I was driving in their boot giving me the option of turning off my cruise control or moving into the next lane.
More annoying are the people who come racing up behind me just as I was getting close to the car in front of me. Then they seem to slow down and hover right next to me so I have to slow down instead of overtaking. Why not keep speeding past me. I came to the conclusion that they were just trying to get into the space before me.

muminhants · 25/02/2015 10:17

YANBU.

Also - the people who pull out of a side road in front of you even though there is nothing behind you, and then crawl along? What's that about?

Debinaround · 25/02/2015 10:19

YANBU. I have been driving for 17 years, drivers are getting more and more reckless.

If people want to drive like idiots and crash their cars that's up to them but don't put me and my family at risk when you do!Angry

starfishmummy · 25/02/2015 10:21

Goodness. All these people breaking all over the road. Must be quite a mess.

starfishmummy · 25/02/2015 10:22

Hopping I can't believe we are the only two people here to have noticed!!

Mrsmorton · 25/02/2015 10:25

You're not star but don't you remember the commandment "thou shalt ignore spelling and grammar even if the thread maketh no sense. Thou should infer the meaning" otherwise you get called a pedanty cunt.

FFS. It's fucking brake. Brake brake brake. [runs and hides]

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 25/02/2015 10:26

Break wind :)

specialsubject · 25/02/2015 10:30

could say that petrol is too cheap - this means it gets wasted like this. Could also say that we need regular retests of driving for everyone because so many do this.

the people who do this are ALWAYS just in front of you when you get to the next roundabout. Tossers.

yet even on here you'll have fools complaining about being stuck behind slow drivers.

I will rise above the spelling issue, not the point!

cdwales · 25/02/2015 10:36

They are breaking the law obviously. But they are also showing a worrying lack of imagination. When I took the Institute of Advanced Motorists test (with the money I got from maternity leave holiday pay - I thought it was now or never!) they drummed into you that the statistics show that the difference between hitting a child at a speed greater than 30mph or below is the difference between killing them or injuring them (statistically). As a parent that sort of worked for me! Oh and the tip they gave was to slip into third gear in a 30mph zone as then the revs sort of keep you right.

Fudgeface123 · 25/02/2015 10:38

starfish I can't believe you and hopping are the only knobheads on here that give a shit about spellings.

You knew what OP meant, does it make you feel good to ridicule?

starfishmummy · 25/02/2015 10:42

At least I don't need to descend into the realms of coarse language to make my point, Fudge.

Pixel · 25/02/2015 21:30

A lot of the time they aren't just reckless or stupid, it's a deliberate scam.

maddening · 25/02/2015 23:45

No - just tedious smugness from you starfish.

ConferencePear · 26/02/2015 09:16

While we're at it - what about the ones who overtake you dangerously and then turn off fifty yards down the road ?

pilates · 26/02/2015 09:37
