Like all good hypochondriacs I am really as strong as a beast and very rarely proper ill.

But today I am feeling worse by the minute. Hacking cough. Aching bones. Big ol glands in my neck and head. So so cold I am shivering despite the hit water bottle, blanket and heating cranked up.

I am miserable.

Give me sympathy please.

MsAspreyDiamonds · 23/02/2015 17:51

Ahh poor you. Make sure you have a paracetamol and a hot drink. Is there anyone at home to act as a nurse or do you have a cat that you can cuddle?

HookedOnHooking · 23/02/2015 17:53

DH and D2 being nice but I can tell they want to kill me every time I cough.

I'm just at the tail end of a similar virus (nearly 2 weeks now).

Plenty of hot drinks, painkillers and sleep. Hopefully in a couple of days you'll begin to feel more human.

Also lovely hot bath if you're feeling cold. I did that, then couldn't cool down again, but I'd rather be hot and achy than cold, shivery and achy.

Look after yourself.

snowaccidentprone · 23/02/2015 17:55

And I'm still coughing now (bloody asthma Hmm)

Jackie0 · 23/02/2015 17:57

I have that . counting the minutes until I finish work.
Muscles hurt, no energy , chesty cough, blown my nose so much its gone crispy.
What the heck is it? Not just a cold surely?

HookedOnHooking · 23/02/2015 18:05

Nanny0gg · 23/02/2015 18:54

I had this.

It was a chest infection and it took two lots of antibiotics to shift.

Just sayin...

CrazyRainbowLady · 23/02/2015 20:48

You have my sympathy. Are you pregnant, or can you take all the drugs going?
I was really poorly at the end of last year and I very much love ALL the drugs now.

TiredButFine · 23/02/2015 21:18

Just had this....the achy legs really hurt.
Duvet, drinks, sleep when you can. Just forget about work, you have to.
At least you have mumsnet to read!

2 weeks for me. I would take, if you can:

*max dose co-codemol x 4 daily (pharmacy strength will do it, although I take way more as I have a higher tolerance excuse to neck it)
or Paramol - which is dihydrocodiene. I think that also has paracetamol in it, so don't take extra on top
AND
*ibruprofen x max dose x 3 daily
AND
*warm ribena (not hot as it will make you boil, not cold as it will make you shiver) or other sweet drink. Stick it in a water bottle and keep sipping from it
*warm shower each day to keep yourself feeling fresh, and clean your teeth (I find if my teeth feel manly I feel worse), if you can't bear that, mouthwash instead.
*Effervescent vitamin C and zinc, berocca or similar
*sleep as much as you can/rest/hide/watch crap on netflix
*eat soup/mashed potato and cheese/porridge when you are able
*face steam if it goes into your nose and chest using albas oil

And really, if it's the rotten bug people are talking about on here you might not be able to work for a few days.

GokTwo · 23/02/2015 21:31

That sounds horrible, you poor thing. Much sympathy and hugs to you.

goingmadinthecountry · 23/02/2015 21:53

Much sympathy. Had it for a good 3 weeks. Am asthmatic so it hits me hard. Routine: (TMI) get up, cough and throw up for 20 mins, drink lemsip, get dd3 up, go to work, come home, collapse, repeat...

If it's any consolation I am fine now - no anti -bs or anything.

Get well soon.

Floellabenjamin · 23/02/2015 21:54

I had this 2 weeks ago. It was hideous. I never get sick. But it knocked me out for 5 days. Good tips on here.
You have my sympathy ThanksThanksThanksh

milkwasabadchoice · 23/02/2015 22:06

I am feeling better today after a whole week of being ill with the same sort of thing. Fever, aches, rrrraging sore throat, head 90% made of snot, voice totally gone. I have lost over half a stone and have just eaten my first proper meal in a week. Still not going back to work tomorrow either.
And my son and husband have had the same thing.
Good luck OP. Stay strong. Sleep a lot.

lougle · 23/02/2015 22:08

Just a word if caution to check medicines really carefully for paracetamol content. Even a little too much can be fatal.

PoppyAmex · 23/02/2015 22:13

What fresh hell is this virus?!

I've had it for 2 weeks and can't seem to be able to shake it. Both toddlers have it too, so no chance of getting some sleep.

I'm exhausted Sad

vrtra · 23/02/2015 23:24

Omg this is me, had it since Wednesday and dreading work tomorrow... Will see how it goes in the morning I spose
