From people I haven't heard from in ages (1+ year) depsite them writing a brief sentence and asking how I am? I just don't think its appropriate for the first thing you've said in ages to be asking for something.

I'm gradually cutting out friends as I get older if I feel they are taking the piss or take far more than they give Confused if that is a good idea

In email just received the font is different for my name so it just looks like a copy and paste job, I found it quite insulting as haven't spoken to her in years.

It probably is a copy and paste, just sent to everyone in her address book.

I wouldn't worry about it. I imagine they don't expect everyone to take them up on it anyway.

I ignore and certainly don't fund gap years abroad. You want to trek the Great Wall of China, then fine, pay for it yourself but don't ask me to pay towards it by cloaking it with one week building a well in a village.
