Hi, Im due to go back to work in a couple of months and have found a really nice nursery, they record the childrens progress via an online system called Babysday but im not 100% sure im happy with my childs data being stored on line , I was wondering, does anyone else have a child in a nursery that use Babysdays and how have you found it?

What sort of data? Their bowel movements and how many bottles they drank? If so, then YABU.

There are lots if early years settings who use inline systems to record progress. There are several companies who provide such a service.

The advantage is parents can go online and see their child's progress, and if they wish give granny in Australia the pass word so she can see too.

Personally I have no problem with my children's images being stored in such a way. Just like I'm happy to use online banking.

Their details will already be stored online, if they have a bank account, medical records etc. What are you concerned might happen?

is it as secure as your bank or other places where your childs data might be stored?

I am a childminder and I lost all the data that was stored on there after they terminated our account. A lot of my parents are really worried about where the data is now being stored etc as the company haven't given us any straight answers.

I think it's different to internet banking etc and they are regulated and have certain ways of doing things, a complaints procedures, independent complaints bodies etc. Baby's Days don't seem to have any of that. I wish I'd never used them TBH.

Exactly what data would they be storing online?

babysdayss · 26/02/2015 14:14

I can't speak for the OPs nursery but they pretty much store everything. Learning Progress, name, address, DOB, Photos, things done in the day, parent name, parent address, medical info, concern forms, Third party contact info. Just anything you can think of related to childcare. The point of them is that the childcare provider has no paper what so ever.
