Linkin Park song - and it seemed apt...

toomuchtooold · 18/02/2015 13:34

timeforacheckup my mother gave our twins matching "microphones" that play that song over and over and over and over. Never even seen Doc McStuffin, know the song by heart.

Mines is a play on The Specials' Too Much Too Young, because I am/was in over my head with too many weans from day 1 (twins), but I am definitely not too young! Got a landmark birthday coming up soon...

Gruntfuttock · 18/02/2015 13:34

Mine is a much shorter version of an extremely silly name I had on another forum, but it originates from Round The Horne which is a radio programme that I used to listen to at Sunday lunchtime when I was a child. There was a character called J Peasmold Gruntfuttock played by Kenneth Williams.

MidniteScribbler · 18/02/2015 13:35

When my father died I was going through his computer and found that he had used the nickname 'MidniteScribbler' on an email address he had owned which I didn't know about. He used it on some gardening forums talking to Americans late at night lol. I took the name as I liked it, and it made me feel closer to my father to be able to use it.

timetosmile · 18/02/2015 13:35

I wanted to be timetostand but somebody else took it

because I love this poem:-

W. H. Davies

Leisure

WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

CarbeDiem · 18/02/2015 13:36

From the Latin aphorism - Carpe Diem
Carbe - because I'm a carb fiend and I wish it translated to 'Seize the carbs' but sadly doesn't :)

Rumours · 18/02/2015 13:36

Love the Mac

AnythingNotEverything · 18/02/2015 13:38

I am a woman. I can do anything, but I can't do everything.

LongDistanceLove · 18/02/2015 13:38

I'm in a long distance relationship, that's the long and short of it.

MrsPurchase · 18/02/2015 13:41

I was watching Toast of London when I wanted to NC, my previous NN was linked with my desperately sad PND OPs. Mrs P is Toast's lady-friend.

And I wanted RayBloodyPurchase but someone had already nicked it

IsadoraQuagmire · 18/02/2015 13:41

I'm a Lemony Snicket character, one of the Quagmire Triplets.

middlings · 18/02/2015 13:41

Fatstacks that's brilliant.

Mine reflects my mood, my age, my intelligence. Fairly middling really Grin

Thought it suited!

magimedi · 18/02/2015 13:42

Gruntfuttock I remember that & wasn't it followed by The Clitheroe Kid?

Nyx · 18/02/2015 13:42

theoldtrout01876 · 18/02/2015 13:46

The old trout is the sanitised version of what my DH calls me :o.

I didnt realise when I joined mumsnet that unsanitised was perfectly acceptable :o

The numbers are my zipcode as someone had the old trout with no numbers

Firesidetreat · 18/02/2015 13:47

It's the name of the yankee candle I had burning at the time.

Gruntfuttock · 18/02/2015 13:48

magimedi, tbh, I can't remember if TCK followed it, but I do remember listening to that too. Even though I was so young, I do think the daftness of Round the Horne (especially the songs by Rambling Sid Rumpo) had a huge influence on my sense of humour, and my own innate daftness.
