AIBU to really dislike the Tories right now?

They're benefit bashing for votes.
They are MP's who for the main part have had a privileged upbringing. Why can't they talk about their plans for the UK's defence in light of ISIS and the Ukraine? Why don't they talk about foreign policy and/or their plans for the EU? Why don't they speak up on green issues? Why don't they discuss immigration levels or London house prices? Or even patiently explaining that benefits aren't that large a portion of expense.

Why, dear god, with their education do they lack empathy towards people already living on the lowest levels of income and have no innovative suggestions to make? Clearly original thought and critical thinking wasn't on their curriculum.

OP posts:
Baddz · 15/02/2015 11:02

Their new anti obese policy will affect about 1700 benefit claimants according to figures I've seen.
And yet....their billionaire donors get away with paying no tax.
Madness.
It's like they are illusionists trying to blind us all with bright coloured scarves from the top hat whilst the real tricks are performed backstage somewhere...
And....people are falling for it and clapping like seals.
:(

expatinscotland · 15/02/2015 11:05

The other problem with the bedroom tax is that anyone over 62 is exempt. Guess who are the greatest percentage of under-occupiers?

Private renters who used HB/LHA are subject to LHA caps.

saintlyjimjams · 15/02/2015 11:07

I hate them for what they have done to people with disablities. It's already bad & if they get in again next year will be worse. I thought CallMeDave would understand - clearly not.

Baddz · 15/02/2015 11:07

The vast majority of council 3 bed houses where my mum lives are occupied by single men over 65.

expatinscotland · 15/02/2015 11:12

Anyone who believed their claptrap was deluded. They did not do a thing to the debt. They have and have always been a party to serve the interests of the very wealthy at the expense of all else. Always. A leopard doesn't change its spots.

Sallyingforth · 15/02/2015 11:15

Let me correct that for you OP.

AIBU to really dislike the politicians right now?

All the politicians have been shit for a long time.

Don't forget why the Tories were elected in the first place. People were sick of what Labour did.
The war criminal Blair. The economic disaster and gold giver-away Brown, and his sidekick Balls who now wants to be Chancellor and do it all again.

The next government, of whatever party, will be no better.

The only thing worse would be UKIP.

YouKnowNothinJonSnow · 15/02/2015 11:21

YANBU to dislike the wankers Tories. But why are you only just starting to dislike them? They've been doing this all along, benefit bashing, making people homeless (bedroom tax), killing people through starvation or suicide (benefit sanctions). All the while their billionaire mates are living it up and not paying their taxes. This is the way the wankers Tories have always been, it really shouldn't come as a surprise.

ghostyslovesheep · 15/02/2015 11:28

people will hark back to Labour which is just trying to distract from the fact that the deficit is now BIGGER than it was under Labour and the cuts have decimated local authorities - targeting the poorest areas the hardest

I agree with YouKnow why are you just starting to hate them - they have been destroying this country for a while now

Sallyingforth · 15/02/2015 11:51

ghosty
I'm not defending the Tories' policies in any way. But you cannot just ignore what Labour did before. It would be downright foolish to forget it.

When considering who to vote for next time, the first thing you have to look for is their records when in power. The lies promises in their manifestos are worth nothing.

Labour was thrown out before for very good reasons - people could see that they had brought the country to its knees.

Both parties have made serious mistakes, and you clearly think the Tories' mistakes are worse than Labour's. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Others might think differently. We are so lucky to live in a democracy where we can all make up our own minds.

ScaryChicken · 15/02/2015 11:56

YANBU

They are twats

Actually, they are a stronger word beginning with "c" but i feel bad writing it.

Delilahfandango · 15/02/2015 11:56

The nasty party! Loathe themAngry

gamerchick · 15/02/2015 11:57

They terrify me. I imagine DC with a portrait of Hitler on his bedroom wall.

They weren't voted in either though we're they at the last election?

Problem is who on earth do we vote for? they all have the same head on their shoulders. Confused

ScaryChicken · 15/02/2015 12:02

I'm planning to vote labour.

They are by no means perfect but I see it as the only way to get rid of the tories..

TheFecklessFairy · 15/02/2015 12:05

They are MP's who for the main part have had a privileged upbringing

So are Labour - or hadn't you noticed? Ed Miliband: Fotzrovia, Harvard, Oxford, tax avoidance scheme, many houses sold within the family to avoid inheritance tax etc etc Confused

Figmentofmyimagination · 15/02/2015 12:12

This is the sort of reason why I hate the Tories - www.theguardian.com/society/2015/feb/15/low-pay-britain-working-families-rent-fridge

Nancy66 · 15/02/2015 12:17

Well they're a right leaning party and they are watching UKIP gallop away with their voters so they're hardly going to produce a leftie, bleeding-heart hug-a-pauper manifesto are they?

Viviennemary · 15/02/2015 12:24

I might have voted Tory this time. Voted Labour last time but have decided not to vote for them absolutely. But this tax dodging stuff has put me off and that ball with all those super rich people arriving. Hmm. No I don't approve of that at all. But when I think of those Labour MP's flitting between houses to maximise how much they could screw from the public. That's worse.

Dawndonnaagain · 15/02/2015 13:19

and they are watching UKIP gallop away with their voters
I don't think that around 15% is galloping away with their vote.

Nancy66 · 15/02/2015 13:29

A predicted 2 million defecting to Ukip is huge and enough to win or lose an election on.

Amummyatlast · 15/02/2015 13:30

Gamerchick, I find your post absurd. UKIP, yes, But the conservatives? I look forward to voting conservative again in the next election (and I'm a nice, liberal, middle class mummy).

Amummyatlast · 15/02/2015 13:31

From a working class background, I will add.

OnlyLovers · 15/02/2015 13:37

Ed Miliband went to a comprehensive.

Amummy, I don't think Gamer's post is that absurd. A lot of what the Tories are doing has horrible echoes of 1930s Germany. Demonising anyone who is poor, foreign, ill, disabled.

gamerchick · 15/02/2015 13:48

I don't particularly give a toss how you find my post mummy. It's how I feel.

Tinkerball · 15/02/2015 13:53

You sound like the typical Tory voter Mummy, all "me, me, me" and who cares about anyone else. We are all entitled to our own opinion but I find it scary that you seen anything absurd about Gamers point.

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 15/02/2015 13:54

Hello Mumsnet Conservative Haterz.

I have never voted Tory in my life [yay!] but I am an ex-socialist [boo!]

I would only vote Tory under two circumstances.

1] Keep UKIP out.

2] Get another woman MP into parliament

What to do, what to do.

I voted Liberal Democrat last time - and a fat lot of good that did! Angry

Help me Mumsnetters, you're my only hope...
