Just curious to know what people do with their face and hair on a day to day basis! Does it differ if you are SAHM or WAHM ( or not a mum at all) ? For those who do, how important is it to you, i.e. you cant leave the house without some make up on?

I don't put make up on and usually just have a messy bun or plait my hair. But would like to make more of an effort with my appearance. (SAHM by the way).

Shower and hair wash daily. Moisturise after shower, dry/straighten hair once dressed.

Cleanse/tone/moisturise face (occasionally wipe & moisturise).

Foundation, lippy, mascara and eyebrow stuff.

For some bizarre reason about 5 years ago, the majority of my body hair (arms and legs) fell out and never regrown. Therefore I never shave my legs, and my underarms only get done about once a month. (I've mentioned this to my GP in case my thyroid or something is playing up but everythinfs OK.)

At weekends if I'm not going further than the high street or gym I don't put make up on.

I work f/t, no kids.

Horseradishes · 07/02/2015 20:56

Morning: face wash and moisturise, foundation, blush and mascara.

Evening: face wash and moisturise.

Only buy new products when old ones have run out.

Only wear make up to work as I'm up at 6 and look like death

I am a sahm, I have a bath every night wash my hair, wash my face, brush teeth. During the day I tie my hair up, shave legs when I can be bothered, have eyebrows waxed roughly every 8 weeks. I moisturise when my skin feels dry, don't wear make up unless I go out I last had a night out 3 years ago...

5dogsgoswimming · 07/02/2015 21:19

Hahahahaha!

5dogsgoswimming · 07/02/2015 21:19

2 under 2.
Tie hair up?!

Morning:
Bath
Exfoliate and moisturise face
Natural deodorant with no aluminium
Brush teeth and mouthwash

If I'm staying at home that's it! I like to let my skin breathe regularly.

If going out:
Anti perspirant deodorant
Tinted moisturiser applied with a beauty blender
Mac concealer
Bronzer and blusher
My eyebrows are tattooed on (but look v natural) but I'll run a little bit of brow pomade through them to tidy them up
Paw paw ointment on lips followed by Dior balm that deepens the natural colour of your lips
Mascara
Hair tied up in messy bun
Jo Malone perfume

For a night out night out:
Fake tan
All of the above but foundation instead of tinted moisturiser
Straighten/curl hair, worn down
Shave
Paint nails/toes

Evening:
Exfoliate face and moisturise
Brush teeth, floss and mouthwash
Revitalash (amazing if you want long lashes but can't be arsed getting extensions every month)

When I'm not pregnant I do glam glow masks and use Mario badescu drying lotion overnight for any blemishes.

EnglishExpatUSA · 08/02/2015 06:14

Oh and wash hair twice/three times a week! Use leave in conditioner and macadamia nut oil.

DertieBertie · 08/02/2015 07:01

I cleanse with ultrabland or coconut oil with a hot cloth, and moisturise with a basic cream morning and night, removing my eye make-up at night with baby oil. I put sudocrem on spots before bed and before make-up to keep the make-up on blemishes.

I wear foundation, concealer, blush, highlighter, sometimes contour, eyebrows, eyeliner and mascara every day.

I get my eyebrows done between once a month to once every 3 months, depending on how bad they look and whether I have anything important to do. I don't shave anything unless I have an interview or similar important occassion. I wash my hair twice a week (normal shampoo and a hair moisturiser), and cut it myself when I feel it needs it. Only brush hair.

I'm oddly high maintenance in some areas, and low in others!

DertieBertie · 08/02/2015 07:02

Oh, and I work full time in nursing and have no children.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 08/02/2015 09:21

work ft.

Morning - shower, with hair wash every other day (basic shampoo and conditioner, usually whatever was 3for2 at Tesco the week before). Moisturiser on face, eye liner and mascara.

Evening - wash face with "Simple" facewash, moisturise.

About once a week I shave armpits and legs.

Think I'm fairly low maintenance Grin

Thanks for the tip georgina1975!

GreenPetal94 · 08/02/2015 10:49

a.m. olay of ulay facewash or facescrub, whilst in shower. Olay mosituriser.

I wash my hair one day in three as its very long and thick and I only blow dry if its a work day (work 0.7) otherwise I leave it to dry naturally.

At night I just clean my teach and land in bed.

I wear a bit of mascara and lippie if I'm going out in the evening. I have quite good skin and over the years I have always felt foundation makes it look worse not better so jacked foundation in years ago.

I have quite a lot of interesting jewellery and clothes and as I have long hair worn down I wear quite long earrings for work (office).

ginmakesitallok · 08/02/2015 10:56

Shower, wash and condition hair daily, rough dry hair with dryer then finish with bbh. Moisturiser, primer, foundation, eyeliner and mascara every morning, blusher and eye-shadow only on nights out. At night I use face wipes in bed and maybe moisturise if I remember.

Will try ultra bland!

Stinkle · 08/02/2015 11:12

I'm a SAHM.

Shower and wash hair every morning, shave bits that feel stubbly
Liz Earl hot cloth stuff for face
Brush teeth
Some make up - some tinted moisturiser/light foundation, lipstick and blusher, I don't bother with mascara as I have eye lash extensions (which are done every 3 weeks, eyebrows threaded every 6/9 weeks while I'm having my eyelashes done)
Dry and sometimes straighten/curl/whatever hair (if I'm not going out/DH is doing the school run I'll leave it to dry naturally but I hate going out with wet hair)
Get dressed

Every now and then I'll stick one of those Aussie 3 Minute Miracle things or similar through my hair while I'm in the shower

Before bed just remove make up, bit of moisturiser and brush teeth

About half an hour a day I suppose.

My friend is a hairdresser so she sorts out my roots/split ends every 6 weeks

I love clothes though, so spend more time and money farting about with what I'm wearing

littlejohnnydory · 08/02/2015 19:34

Ha ha ha. I shower and wash my hair daily. I don't even dry my hair. I use e45 on body and face. I do shave legs and underarms in the shower. That's it for a beauty regime though. When I worked, I straightened hair and did wear a little bit of make up.

littlejohnnydory · 08/02/2015 19:36

I do feel a bit of a scruff sometimes but with four dc it's hard enough to get washed, dressed and out the door.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/02/2015 19:45

Work full time, 2 young kids - wash hair once or twice a week, deep condition each time and straighten.

Use dermalogica cleanser, moisturizer etc, deep mask once a week. Retin-a every third day for wrinkles, sun cream after moisturizer then make up. Hot country so have to.
Legs and lady garden always shaved.
Minimum I go out with is mascara and straight hair. My hair makes the difference between me looking hot or not!!!

Bodicea · 08/02/2015 19:51

Shower every morning. Wash hair every other day. Wash face with cleanser in shower.
Then serum and moisturiser with SPF. Bit of powder, blush, curl eye lashes and eyebrow pencil.
Cleanse, serum and moisturiser at night ( regularly go to bed without doing this though which is v bad I know).
Hand cream all the time.
