To be disappointed by lack of snow

The midlands, north of england and scotland have had loads of snow. Spain has had loads of snow. Hertfordshire has only had a light dusting of snow this year. My kids want to make a snowman and haven't really had the opportunity this year.

I know that snow causes problem for people who have to get to work, but my kids would love to go sledging.

tinks a teeny dusting of snow is hardly cause for concern. It's not a life or death situation.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:07

Eh? what are 'Hunters'

I have worked in actual real snow - proper 6 months worth in minus 30 temp

we are a weedy bunch in the UK if 24 hrs of a bit of powder makes us all so hysterical

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:07

will go with a "dusting" that's perfectly acceptable as long as it clears by the end of the day.

ilovesooty · 06/02/2015 23:09

I don't see why the comments about travel are odd.

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:09

whats hysterical about saying its not a good thing when the roads or pavements arent adequately gritted? and yes pensioners are scared to go out. I look after a few in my street. Two of them broke a limb last year because of the snow.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:10

so we are agreed - a dusting of snow - enough for a small snowman but only for 24 hours - we are allowed to wish for this Grin

cool (but not cool enough :( )

Sleetsleetmoresleet · 06/02/2015 23:10

Haha, op you should of have put lighthearted in your post Grin.
I agree with you, a bit of snow would have been grand! The weather has been dire here all winter, cold, rainy, grey and not a bit of snow Sad.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:12

but that's not the snows fault Tinks - that's the councils

and to be fair London is the city least likely to be completely shut down by snow - all your trains are underground for starters and everyone drive Range Rovers

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:12

location and circumstance comes into it though a lot doesnt it.

im still going for a "dusting" and have already had that the other day.

Enough!

LittleBrownRabbit · 06/02/2015 23:12

I assume tinks is referring to the make Hunter wellies. The ones I wear

HedgehogsDontBite · 06/02/2015 23:13

Pavements don't need to gritted if you're wearing the correct footwear. Pensioners in Sweden don't hibernate from October to March.

ilovesooty · 06/02/2015 23:14

A dusting wouldn't be enough for a snowman. Enough for a snowman would make it difficult to get off my street at all.
I'm sure a good few people were entranced by the snow we had a couple of years ago. It was bad enough for all our buses and taxis to be off the road. I had to walk a mile to my doctors for a colonoscopy having administered the enema the night before. I don't remember that as a whole load of fun.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:15

oh no my wellies are from Asda !

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:17

Grin not sure I ever blamed the snow ghostly. I just said it was a hazard, very pretty, but a hazard.

I live in the heart of London and helped a fair number of old people last year that fell on icy pavements.

I also don't drive a range rover.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:20

elderly people die in the hot weather as well - are we allowed to want a nice summer or is that banned?

I love extreme weather - cold snowy winters and hot sunny summers - I am a child of the 70's

You do not own a range rover and I don't own any Hunters

I still want snow though

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:21

and here's me not wanting very hot weather that kills pensioners nor very cold that does the same, silly me.

I dont really care what era you were born in either to be fair.

LittleBrownRabbit · 06/02/2015 23:23

ghosty I have tesco wellies too. The Hunters were from my MIL (she doesn't like me).

tinks seriously a dusting of snow does not make any city grind to a standstill. We often laugh up here at how London gets a flurry of snow and all hell breaks loose. It's all over the news yet we're sitting with a foot of snow and it's not worthy of being a news story. As I said we just get on with it.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:24

oh dear have we got our very serious pious pants on tonight

I was obviously joking Tinks - I am beginning to think you don't like me ...almost like to homed in on my posts like a dog with a bone

but that's probably the cocaine talking

wobblyweebles · 06/02/2015 23:24

God, please take my snow. I've had 68" so far this year and we have another 12" coming on Monday.

I have a snowblower. I have snow tyres. I have snow boots. I have a truck. It's still A. Fucking. Nightmare.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:24

My Asda ones have skulls on - obviously heralding my arrival as the murderer of the over 60's!

tilliebob · 06/02/2015 23:25

I'm in Scotland and we've had cock all snow in this region. Bought the dcs new sledges 3 years ago and they're still pristine and shiny new in the shed. We blame buying them for the lack of snow!

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:26

Im glad for you rabbit. Im just saying that due to whatever reason it doesnt work in London. Its a hazard. Scoffing that you get on with it doesnt make me think, fuck sake let me snap out of it. I see what I do, living where I do.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/02/2015 23:26

there you go then - buy a sledge and a bikini and ward of all the evil murderous weather demons

LittleBrownRabbit · 06/02/2015 23:26

tinks YABU. Is there no pleasing you? No hot summers and no cold winters? So, what is the answer?

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:28

Grin at ghosty.
