using a fork like a scoop

AIBU to not want my children to use a fork like a scoop, unless they are eating peas or a meal that doesn't require a knife and fork?

Is this really something people think about, let alone get bothered by?

Surely there are a million more important things than whether someone scoops with their fork? What's this about balancing stuff on the back of a fork, how does that work? And why would you do that?

I sometimes hold the knife like a pencil. I also hold my fork weird, and I have to use ergonomic pens as I hold pens weirdly too. My fingers are very hypermobile and holding the knife the normal way for too long becomes painful.

Why does it matter?

I am a scooper... I simply can't get my head round why the rest of the country feel the need to hold a fork UPSIDE DOWN and try and squish food on the back of it...I just don't get it? Turn it over and it is perfectly simple and practical design!
I also hold my knife funny...

No manners me :)

But if you are bothered then that's your problem. Life is TOO short to care about how people hold their cutlery.

Fork lollipop anyone?

Spear something on the tines and then bite little bits off it Sad

I judge people who don't eat correctly, many people do.

If you judge people who don't eat correctly, well that's your problem isn't it.

Squishing peas onto the back of a fork is minging though surely? I'd rather scoop thanks!
