AIBU to expect DH to use a pink toothbrush ?

Last toothbrush left in a multipack in bathroom cupboard is pink & my DH is refusing to use it - in the privacy of our own bathroom, it's not as if I'm expecting him to take it to work or anything ! He has asked my to go shopping tomorrow to buy a more masculine colour. I won't have time tomorrow, I have a very busy day and we don't need any other shopping !!!

He's being daft. I'm a bloke and I'd use a pink toothbrush. What's the issue with it?

canweseethebunnies · 28/01/2015 22:35

YANBU. If he has such ridiculous preferences, he can be in charge of toothbrush shopping.

AdoraBell · 28/01/2015 22:35

He's being a tad ridiculous. YANBU.

CocktailQueen · 28/01/2015 22:38

Yanbu. He is being a loon.

MrsCosmopilite · 28/01/2015 22:38

It's still a toothbrush. He should stop being so ridiculous or go and get his own.

AdoraBell · 28/01/2015 22:39

Also, it was only a hundred years or so ago that pink was considered far too strong a colour for girls. So people dressed their girls in the much more feminine and delicate blue.

He won't be expecting a goodnight kiss until his teeth are clean, obvs.

MimsyBorogroves · 28/01/2015 22:39

Putting something long and pink and hard in his mouth? Come on, OP. We both know what that means, and exactly what will happen.

His teeth will get clean.

gamerchick · 28/01/2015 22:39

Tell him to pick his own up tomorrow.

Or tell him to cover the damned thing in masking tape.

Cleio · 28/01/2015 22:40

My DH will only use a green toothbrush. I've given up trying to argue with him that they're all the same. He purchases his own replacements so it doesn't actually involve me. Inwardly I still shake my head about it though.

2rebecca · 28/01/2015 22:40

The best bit about choosing a toothbrush is choosing the colour. I'd make him go shopping to find a colour he likes but he should have stuck to his old one until he bought one in a colour he likes. You can have the pink one when yours wears out if you chose pink so it'll get used. Colour is important for toothbrushes.

5madthings · 28/01/2015 22:40

Oh fgs tell him to stop being such a twat.

Yanbu at all, he is being beyond ridiculous!

ChippingInLatteLover · 28/01/2015 22:41

Oh look, here's another one.

namelessposter · 28/01/2015 22:44

Do not do this. It will make him catch The Gay.

BramwellBrown · 28/01/2015 22:46

To be fair to your DH, we have colour coded toothbrushes in my house, but only because otherwise I forget which ones mine.

Pumpkinette · 28/01/2015 22:46

YANBU - He is being ridiculous. Tell him if he doesn't like it then he can go buy his own toothbrush tomorrow. I don't think you should go out your way to get another one.

Just asked DH if he would use a pink toothbrush if it was all we had in the house and he laughed. He said it didn't matter what colour it is - it's just a toothbrush so why wouldn't he use it? He did say if he was picking his own in a shop he would choose a green one because it's his favourite colour.

Does your DH refuse to use pink loo roll too?

momb · 28/01/2015 22:48

I read this to DH and he has two comments:
'stop being a twat and brush your teeth'
'buy your own toothbrush if you can't stop being a knob'.

These threads are tedious.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 28/01/2015 22:50

That's hilarious, bless him!

Hatespiders · 28/01/2015 22:51

Good grief, what an idiot he is! I know where I'd stick it, and it wouldn't be anywhere near his teeth.

LikeIcan · 28/01/2015 22:54

YANBU - my dh's toothbrush is lilac. He's very happy with it :-)

MrsCosmopilite · 28/01/2015 23:01

momb my DH has just said pretty much the same thing.

TheNewStatesman · 28/01/2015 23:01

Hmmm--did he definitely say that the reason he did not like pink was because it was gender-destroying or something? In our house, having my TB be the pink one and his be the blue one is just an easy-to-remember way to make sure we don't get mixed up in the morning when we are still half asleep... So he could have been objecting for that reason?

Discopanda · 28/01/2015 23:05

YABU, it is a well-known fact that if males use any item that is pink or in any way goes against traditional masculinity their testicles WILL shrink and they will turn into women.

I was in Boots picking out a toothbrush for DD a few months back, went through all the colours and she picked out blue. The girl at the till said "Oh is this for her? We've got some lovely pink ones."

My OH currently has an orange and pink toothbrush and mine is blue. Also, pink was originally considered a masculine colour.
