AIBU to expect DH to use a pink toothbrush ?

Lastminutelizzie · 28/01/2015 22:34

Last toothbrush left in a multipack in bathroom cupboard is pink & my DH is refusing to use it - in the privacy of our own bathroom, it's not as if I'm expecting him to take it to work or anything ! He has asked my to go shopping tomorrow to buy a more masculine colour. I won't have time tomorrow, I have a very busy day and we don't need any other shopping !!!

Pink is just a colour. Most men wouldn't even notice.

Maybe his reluctance is due to him being insecure about his sexuality. Does he worry that a pink toothbrush will cause one thing to lead to another and tomorrow he'll be having hot sweaty man fun?

Or is he just a bit of a twat?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/01/2015 23:32

Tell him he clearly has "late onset colour blindness", that the toothbrush is grey and you are booking an urgent apt with the GP in the morning. Then watch him scrub his teeth and head for Dr. Google.

We'll probably not but what a bizarre idea in this day and age and its YOUR problem to 'fix' it? Buy him a Thomas the Tank engine toothbrush tomorrow since he's clearly 6 yrs old in the 1950's

Fatalatomo · 29/01/2015 02:06

If your busy let him Get it himself but by the same token if he doesn't want that colour why should he have to have it. (Nothing to do with pink)

I don't like green toothbrushes and would never buy one for myself as is my prerogative Smile

Tinks42 · 29/01/2015 02:14

Well its manky teeth for him then. He doesnt "have" to use it does he.

YANBU

KnackeredMerrily · 29/01/2015 03:28

Has his current toothbrush self-destructed? Why can't it wait till you are next shopping? Confused

HighwayDragon · 29/01/2015 06:43

Does he think his teeth will catch the gay?

Nolim · 29/01/2015 06:48

Yanbu. He can yo and buy a new multipack and pick his favorite colour.

musicalendorphins2 · 29/01/2015 07:00

Here is the solution!
Manly Toothbrush

JessieMcJessie · 29/01/2015 07:09

What is he, 6 years old?! The City is full of solidly hetero bankers and high flying business types who wear pink shirts all the time.

musicalendorphins2 · 29/01/2015 07:09

Or this one. Radius Toothbrush Review

NeedABumChange · 29/01/2015 07:09

This is the kind of thing I'd actually say LTB to. He sounds like some type of homophobic oaf from the 50s.

MyGastIsTinselled · 29/01/2015 07:22

Is anyone else now humming it is it just me?

Samcro · 29/01/2015 07:25

if he wants another colour, he should go buy it

HopelessFancyFeigned · 29/01/2015 07:28

Is anyone else now humming this it is it just me?

That was my first thought.

Discopanda · 30/01/2015 10:38

It's in my head now, bollocks!

IndridCold · 30/01/2015 10:53

YANBU!

Took DS to buy a new mouthguard the other day, and they only had pink ones on display. The guy in the shop seemed really worried about this, and offered to go and look for another colour in the stock room. He looked a bit shocked when DS said 'Nah, it's OK, my hockey stick is pink too' (which it is Smile).

FuckOffGroundhog · 30/01/2015 10:58

Dh has a pink toothbrush. Judging from last night..he has yet to catch The Gay.. Shock Wink

Make him buy his own fucking toothbrush

RaspberryRuffle · 30/01/2015 11:01

LTB!
Well maybe not leave, but tell him he's being a massive twat.

FuckOffGroundhog · 30/01/2015 11:01

If she weren't busy should she have bought it for him? He's a Big Boy now.

Burke1 · 30/01/2015 11:22

Don't see a problem with this. He would prefer a different colour, asked you to get one and would probably give you the money for it too.

ApocalypseThen · 30/01/2015 11:35

Is there any reason for her to run silly errands for him? She's his wife, not his assistant.

Thumbcat · 30/01/2015 11:42

That's hilarious OP. I would take the piss out of him about it at every opportunity.

squoosh · 30/01/2015 11:45

Are you married to a 12 year old?

You've provided a toothbrush, he doesn't like that toothbrush 'coz it's for gurlz and gayz WAAAHH'. Tell him to buy his own bloody toothbrush.

Burke1 · 30/01/2015 11:45

ApocalypseThen helping your spouse doesn't make you their assistant. It's fairly normal for both people in a marriage to often ask each other if they could do something/drop something off/buy something for them while at the shops. If she was going to be near a shop that he wanted something from and he wasn't, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask if she'd mind popping in if she had a minute and get a specific item.

squoosh · 30/01/2015 11:47

Of course it's unreasonable for a grown man to ask a busy person to buy him a new toothbrush because he doesn't like the colour of his current brand new toothbrush.

Anyone who panders to that kind of babyish behaviour is nuts.
