It's sweet, but a bit of a non-story and probably something of a stealth boast Wink

OP posts:
emms1981 · 26/01/2015 17:36

I knew what this was going to be as soon as I saw the title of your post. Totally agree op!

AlorsMeh · 26/01/2015 17:37

You old cynic you, I think that's a really positive upbeat story. I feel all warm and fuzzy reading it.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 26/01/2015 17:38

Well done finding something bad in such a nice story.

Allstoppedup · 26/01/2015 17:38

Aww I think that is a lovely story!

TheWitTank · 26/01/2015 17:38

YANBU. It is sweet, but I was a bit HmmGrin when they were appealing for the note writer to come forward this morning on TV. Bloody hell, a client wrote me a nice note regarding some work I did last week and said I was a "lovely young lady". Shall I calm the BBC? Lovely, and a really sweet little boy, but newsworthy? No.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 26/01/2015 17:40

Oh please I had someone comment on how well behaved dd is when I was 21. Can I get an article? Grin. Jokes aside it was lovely for a stranger to do this and her son looks very happy

NomiMalone · 26/01/2015 17:46

Her foundation is too orange and about 3 shades too dark.

Cute kid though.

SuperMoonIsKeepingMeUpToo · 26/01/2015 17:48

Slow news day, I think. Boring.

Coumarin · 26/01/2015 17:50

You've got to give her credit for doing the best stealth boast ever. Grin

What with this and the party invoice story, I'm starting to wonder if journalists are trawling netmums instead of Mumsnet these days...

TheGMF · 26/01/2015 17:54

I thought the same thing. Some boorish old fart thinks a child's behaviour matches up to how he thinks a child should act and leaves a creepy note. I doubt he would have been as impressed with the mum's parenting skills if she had looked like the back of a bus.

Also - a fiver? What the fuck's that about?

FightOrFlight · 26/01/2015 17:54

Her foundation is too orange and about 3 shades too dark.

Wow, what a totally unnecessary and bitchy comment.

ohbollocks2u · 26/01/2015 17:57

Fuck it , I am going to write myself a note about how wonderful I am and tell DH it was left on the car Grin

EternalBeauPlate · 26/01/2015 17:57

I am proud to live in Plymouth with all the notes and invoices making the headlines :)

LovelyBranches · 26/01/2015 17:58

FFS! How about we don't reduce a woman down to what she looks like! If this was a father, I doubt there's be a thread saying that it's only a story because he's attractive.

It's actually lovely to see a positive story about a young mother instead of the daily tide of hatred.

AlorsMeh · 26/01/2015 17:59

the fiver was because a stranger once left a fiver for his daughter - he was paying if forward.

EternalBeauPlate · 26/01/2015 18:01

Someone did leave a note on my car one time. Sadly it said LEARN TO PARK.

Older · 26/01/2015 18:01

If an older lady left a note like this with a father on the train, would we critique his appearance suggesting he only got the note because he was glam or then slagging off his appearance. This thread is pretty sad

TwitterWooooo · 26/01/2015 18:01

Check her handwriting, bet she wrote it to herself! ??

Older · 26/01/2015 18:01

X post Lovely but same thought

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/01/2015 18:02

An old lady gave my kids a quid each the other day because dd had made her laugh and ds had been very patient and kind with his horror of a sister!

Not really sure why this is newsworthy. It's nice but I don't think it is so far out of the ordinary.

ToysRLuv · 26/01/2015 18:03

What a non-story. It could have been a bit newsworthy if it was £500, or something.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/01/2015 18:05

Otoh i see loads of parents on the bus in the morning who don't put their little one on their lap leaving people standing. There is a woman I see regularly who has two small children and bags and they take up four seats. I once asked if I could sit on the bag chair and she acted as if I'd asked for a kidney.

Nerf · 26/01/2015 18:06

If it's true it's ridiculous and just demonstrates how LCD we are with our news stories. Next, she'll be on celebrity big brother. I might put a bet on it at William hill.

PinkSquash · 26/01/2015 18:10

How did he know she wad teaching him good manners as the boy was asleep?

This was in the local rags website earlier, no surprise the Beeb grabbed it. A bit happier than the shit that has been in the local paper.

I'm regularly praised for my DCs impeccable manners and behaviour if only they knew

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/01/2015 18:11

I took the op to be a comment on how our media only values stories with young and good looking women, not a criticism of the woman herself.
