It's sweet, but a bit of a non-story and probably something of a stealth boast Wink

OP posts:

lol, at the saying "learn to park".

firesidechat · 26/01/2015 20:16

I was once complimented, along with my friends children, on our children's good manners while eating in a pub, by the landlord. (shameless boasting because I've been dying to mention this for years)

No one gave us any money though. Sad

mrspremise · 26/01/2015 20:21

Sorry, but Rylan, three? Rylan? RYLAN??!! Fucking hell...

SurlyCue · 26/01/2015 20:30

So a man tells a woman she's doing a good job of parenting and passing on good will and MNers see that as fair game to bitch about her appearance? Lovely. Just lovely. Hmm

krolletRodtHar · 26/01/2015 20:37

I'm not bitching about her. I think it's the man's actions (his noticing the good behaviour of a child of a pretty mum and writing the note) plus media picking up the story that makes me feel cross. All I said is that she's pretty, and she is.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/01/2015 20:38

That isn't the tone of the thread at all.

This isn't newsworthy but because the press like to have attractive women in their pages they will make it news.

Yarp · 26/01/2015 20:42

So bitch at the newspapers, not her personally, as some on here have done.

It comes off as so mean-spirited.

i have sometimes wanted to compliment parents of little ones on their parenting, or their child's behaviour, but have never have done it for fear of sounding patronising. Iwould have loved to have received that note.

FoulsomeAndMaggotwise · 26/01/2015 20:46

You lot are such killjoys!

It's a lovely story.

PurpleSwift · 26/01/2015 21:23

I think it would be nicer however, if people could just take these gestures as they are, without splashing it all over the Internet

AlorsMeh · 26/01/2015 21:23

So having slagged off her foundation we have now moved on to her son's name. Nice. So much for the sisterhood.

FightOrFlight · 26/01/2015 22:15

I'm struggling to see how a sleeping child and him being quiet translates into her being brilliant

Well seeing as how none of us were there to see whether or not she was "brilliant" we're just going to have to take Fiver Man's word for it.

The child was asleep when the man got off the train. He may have only just fallen asleep and the rest of the time he was a well behaved little boy with a polite and effective parent. Nobody is going to give you £5 just for having a sleeping child however pretty you are.

FightOrFlight · 26/01/2015 22:19

*This isn't newsworthy but because the press like to have attractive women in their pages they will make it news.

So what was their excuse for posting endless photos of SadFacedJumperInvoice man? That story wasn't exactly newsworthy either but it went viral.

awfulomission · 26/01/2015 22:21

Nice man. Nice mum. Nice kid.

I'd have kept the note to myself though. And glowed inwardly. I'm not so comfortable with the all out there FB stuff.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/01/2015 22:24

Well I was hoping someone would be able to explain what happened on the train for her to be called brilliant because the article I read said her some was asleep on the seat next to her and she moved him onto her lap to free up a seat for someone else. It doesn't give any other details. I'm sure he is a lovely boy but the whole thing seems a bit odd and not particularly out of the ordinary.

FightOrFlight · 26/01/2015 23:24

Ah right Snowman I only read the article linked in the OP which doesn't say anything about the lead up, just ends with:

"She said: "I never had the chance to thank him as he got off and I couldn't move due to my son being asleep on me and a man sat next to me."
