It is one of the biggest ball aches ever, but I am going out tonight. Had the dye for about a week, but I just can't be arsed doing the actual deed. I need a kick up the arse.

hahahaha Grin I do the bag on the head thing as well (loving your name btw!)

My shower resembles a murder scene when I wash it off - it's lovely!

LadyJinglyJones · 24/01/2015 13:52

I do get bloody bored while waiting the 20 minutes with it on though. Because I can't put my glasses on with the stuff all over my head, so I can't read or MN! If I plan it well I can hang out a wash to dry :o

Just done mine. Swear L'Oreal have reduced the amount of gloop in the bottle! Struggled to make it go round and now that I look, I seem to have missed a bit..... def can see a clump of mousey grey brown amongst the dark brown. Trouble is, all our mirrors here are in dark hallways and I can't really see..... no housemates to ask if I have dye on the back of my neck and ears, either. Blush

PunkrockerGirl · 24/01/2015 15:08

I never do the allergy test BlushBlush

If it's any help I used Lush henna for the first time the other week - it was meant to be dark red.
HALF of my hair is violent orange. The other half is the blonde it was when I started.

I absolutely love lush henna! Makes my brown hair a lovely shade of dark red if I use the caca rouge one. Also makes it lovely and shiny. Haven't done it for ages - I blame the baby! My husband brought me some before Christmas which I still haven't found the time to use!!

fluffyraggies · 24/01/2015 15:16

I'll see your boring hair dye and raise you ... eyebrow dyeing.

My hair is brown (and yes, needs it's boost of reddy brown dye, the box is in the bathroom and i cant be arsed yet) but my eyebrows are blond and don't show up much.

I like to dye them so as i needn't always pencil them. They look so much better all tweaked and dyed but hell i struggle to get round to it. It doesn't even take that long and i can do in front of the telly!

FightOrFlight · 24/01/2015 15:18

Can I dye wet or damp hair?

Depends on the dye Derek - some need towel dried hair, others unwashed dry hair. It will say in the instructions which one it is for your dye.

I'm not dying mine. It'll get grey and that's it. Dying seems such a hassle for doubtful results.

Mumtotherescueagain · 24/01/2015 15:23

Eyebrows - can you not get them tattooed?

I like a nice orange Sainsbury's bag on mine. I always leave it on for an hour so try to time it for just before something an hour long on TV. And I've never done a patch test ever.

Frozenchipsareawful · 24/01/2015 15:56

This why i love Mumsnet, women 'speaking my language' - i too hate doing my hair. My cut at the hairdressers isnt cheap, so i steer away from letting them do it. Just feels a rip off and cba to find anywhere a bit more reasonable to have it dyed or foil hi lights etc. However, the mess gets me down, waiting about for it to take. Its all a faff.

SpiceAddict · 24/01/2015 16:09

Hey you all don't know how lucky you are......

I have an allergy to normal dyes so can only use lush henna to cover my greys. Would love to be able to do it within an hour...it takes me 5 hours to do mine Confused

Yes, you have to leave it on for 4 hours to get a good result & then it takes ages washing it out as it goes hard & gritty.

I hate doing it but the only alternative is going grey which I would hate more!

I stepped off the treadmill last year & stopped dyeing - whoop whoop! Come on you greys!

Looking pretty witchy now with nine months' worth of salt n pepper roots, a silver streak at the front (been cultivating that for the last 3-4 years) & strawlike slightly gingery faded-dark-brown-dyed hair to my shoulders.

Hmm
gilmoregirl · 24/01/2015 18:14

If you only need to do the roots have you tried the root touch up kit? I think it is clairol and it is basically a teeny kit which does just roots in ten minutes. I am v grey (at only 41) and leave it on longer with deep conditioner on rest of hair the rinse off.

I do it every four weeks (on 1st day of my period!) and it is not nearly as much effort as normal dye then I only do a proper dye off all hair twice a year. Would recommend.
