to ask about Mcdonalds?

I rarely go to Mcds - my dc are fussy so one doesn't like burgers or nuggets and another hates chips. But last weekend I had promised dd 2 and 3 that we'd go to a cafe while dd1 was at a party. Traffic was horrendous and so we didn't have enough time before collecting dd1. I decided to go to mcds for milkshakes they could have in the car. I've never seen the place so busy. They were queuing out the door. All the tables were full and drive through was queuing. anyway, there was not enough time and I ended up promising to make milkshakes at home.
Aibu to ask the question - why are so many eating full meals at 3.30Pm? What is that-lunch or dinner or do they have lunch and dinner too?
I know it's tragic and I need a life but it's confusing me.

I am scoffing a big tasty in McDonald's right now.

This is because I was FORCED into it by unseen forces. I would never choose to be here, obviously. Grin

That lists repeats it's self a few times.

It's also numbered up to 19 though, rather than just the 14 of the headline.

The fries are very tasty though.

Ed- for an extra 80p you can get a 20 nuggets box, just in case 9 isn't touching the sides:)
£3.19 for 9,£3.99 for 20.
Am hungry now....

I love that people always start McDonalds threads with a lot of detail on how they never usually darken McDonalds' doors. Just so we're clear.

foreverton · 24/01/2015 14:45

Double cheeseburgers are the biggest sellers, shame I turned veggie 7 years ago!

I think that ingredient list is an American one? All these horror stories usually relate to the USA McDonalds as the Government food regulation isn't as strict as here in the UK.

Another one here wanting a Maccys for tea Grin

dementedpixie · 24/01/2015 14:50

that's not the ingredients in UK fries though. UK ingredients are apparently:

Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Rapeseed), Dextrose (only added at beginning of the potato season).

Prepared in the restaurants using a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil.
Salt is added after cooking.

dementedpixie · 24/01/2015 14:57

SoupDragon, from that link:

The recipe for McDonald's French Fries differs greatly in the UK where it does not include the Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Canola Oil and, notably, the Dimethylpolysiloxane, according to a study by 100daysofrealfood.com

It's 3pm. DH & I haven't had lunch yet. DD is poorly (which is why I haven't done the shopping yet, hence little food). DS1 is out somewhere with his girlfriend & DS2 has had a toast-based brunch.

I could eat a McD's at 3.30pm today Smile. Even though I only really get excited about the breakfasts.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 24/01/2015 15:07

I like the gherkins

m0therofdragons · 24/01/2015 16:59

Just come back. Only put explanation as I was trying to be clear I wasn't mcd bashing and doing it in a conversational kind of way as I was thinking conversation could go anti mcds and that's not what I was asking. Clearly I didn't write my op to the standard of some mnetters. I like chatting on here and thought I'd ask about something that occurred to me. Thinking about it, Nursery do give dc tea at 4pm then they need something before bed but I'm never sure what to give them as a meal is too much.
It's supposed to be a thread really about how people time their meals and was never intended as an aggressive all people eating mcds are fat poat. Oh well off to cook dinner as we have it at about 5.30 pm.

I'm just eating my lunch! Had breakfast at 10. DD got her lunch at 12 but I wasn't hungry, then we went out for the afternoon. Just got in so DH and I eating lunch now as DD has dinner. We'll have a light dinner at about 9pm if we fancy it.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 24/01/2015 17:12

Oh my, I've had a Big Mac meal at 11am recently (pregnant and starving!). On Saturdays in particular, our meal times are much more relaxed. If we've had a slow morning we might go to a National Trust place late morning/midday, then pick up McDonalds on the way home (3-4pm), we'd then eat dinner about 7pm and put DD to bed closer to 8pm (hoping she'll have a lie in on Sunday morning).

I'd do anything for a Big Mac now though, DH won't drive out and get me one Sad

fancyanotherfez · 24/01/2015 17:13

The gherkins are the best bit of my McDonalds of choice- quarter pounder with cheese. now the calorie count at the side of the menu- most off putting!
