to ask about Mcdonalds?

I rarely go to Mcds - my dc are fussy so one doesn't like burgers or nuggets and another hates chips. But last weekend I had promised dd 2 and 3 that we'd go to a cafe while dd1 was at a party. Traffic was horrendous and so we didn't have enough time before collecting dd1. I decided to go to mcds for milkshakes they could have in the car. I've never seen the place so busy. They were queuing out the door. All the tables were full and drive through was queuing. anyway, there was not enough time and I ended up promising to make milkshakes at home.
Aibu to ask the question - why are so many eating full meals at 3.30Pm? What is that-lunch or dinner or do they have lunch and dinner too?
I know it's tragic and I need a life but it's confusing me.

I love that most of the OP is an explanation of how she'd never usually go to MacDonalds Grin

dementedpixie · 24/01/2015 12:58

dh is getting the food shop just now so we haven't had lunch yet and I'm hungry!

sebsmummy1 · 24/01/2015 13:00

Maybe the prime location dictates that it is always busy regardless of time? There is always someone wanting food or drink at all times of the day all over the world.

I'm glad we don't all have to eat at the same times each day as otherwise we would never be able to get a table anywhere as it would be heaving.

Pancakeflipper · 24/01/2015 13:09

What are you confused at?

Is it people eating at 3.30pm?

Or McDonald's being popular?

Are you distancing yourself from being a burger /nugget lover?

I find lots of places to eat are busy on weekends. At the cinema complex near us with at least 12 different places to eat it's book or stand waiting for 40mins after 12pm.

LoxleyBarrett · 24/01/2015 13:34

Why do you need milkshake at 3.30pm - a glass of tap water would have sufficed Grin

The reality people eat MDs because the like it - there is no other reason. (Would it be wrong to have a fillet o fish so soon after lunch?)

EdSheeran · 24/01/2015 13:56

I do like the OP's opening sentence of I rarely go to McDonalds". Grin

Kind of off topic, but is it just me who didn't know McDs fries have natural beef flavouring in them?

Burger King is better than Maccies, I was extremely miffed when they left my town, extremely miffed indeed. Replaced it with a Nandos.

Iggi999 · 24/01/2015 14:06

Soup dragon - Mcdonalds fries are accredited by the vegetarian society Confused so not likely to have beef in them! (In UK at least)

SurlyCue · 24/01/2015 14:08

Goodness some people must live in a very tiny bubble if they cant imagine why someone else would eat at a different time to them!

SurlyCue · 24/01/2015 14:10

Fwiw 3.30pm is one of the busiest times in my local McDs because all the primary schools get out at 3 and the secondary schools between 3.10 and 3.25.

juneybean · 24/01/2015 14:16

YABU for thinking McDonald's is a full meal, it's merely a snack Wink

My flatmate at Uni used to pop in for a burger if she was constipated Grin

fancyanotherfez · 24/01/2015 14:29

My DS hates chips. It's really irritating. I end up paying about £1 a nugget because it seems to be the law that all kids meals have to come with chips!

foreverton · 24/01/2015 14:29

I work at McDonald's and nothing surprises me over who eats what at what time, 4 o'clock in the morning is particularly busy for some reason.
Last night around 1am, a dad comes through drive thru with a car full of young kids and ordered 5 mcflurry's :)

Ds1 - 19 had one of his most memorable experiences at 4 am in Maccies, he ran into two of his favourite teachers from secondary school, they posed for pictures together and were all steaming drunk talking.

EdSheeran · 24/01/2015 14:34

I find McD's really unfilling. When I go, I always order a large big Mac meal with 9 chicken nuggets on the side. Blush I don't go very often, even though I like it, because I find it doesn't fill me up at all. Also, it's definitely not as cheap as it used to be!

I know I have just committed an MN sin but I don't give a fuck, McD's is great IMO. Grin
