To think some Mumsnetters get upset over some weird stuff

I can understand crying at the Ebola outbreak, or homeless kittens, or tsunami footage.

Don't understand 'i am sat here crying' because a kid missed breakfast, a toddler was told off or a family moved house.

I can understand 'aw that's a shame' but crying ... Do people really sit and cry?

Not me. I hardly ever cry (which I see as a problem, as it goes,) and would never torture English quite so badly as to say "I am sat".

I'm quite envious of people who cry at kittens Grin I'm tempted to feel envious of people whose problems are so small that a chipped nail wrecks their day - but I'm aware they're probably hormonal, tired, or avoiding a much deeper problem. A pat on the hand doesn't cost anything.

AwakeCantSleep · 15/01/2015 22:24

YABU. I get emotional all the time. And not only when I'm upset. Often when people are kind to me! Nothing i can do about it.

Gah, Awake, send me some of yours!

Only1scoop · 15/01/2015 22:27

I might cry if I missed breakfast

I'm a greedy sod

AwakeCantSleep · 15/01/2015 22:29

I'd love to, Gallic. Trust me!

GallicIsCharlie · 15/01/2015 22:30

laugh so loud they wake the dead - Oops, that's me.

"I need to cry more and laugh less" sounds a bit wrong, though, somehow Confused

GallicIsCharlie · 15/01/2015 22:31

Cheers, Awake Grin I don't suppose you'd accept a guffaw in part-exchange?

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 22:31

Gallic

That's very rude.

How dare you criticise my written English.

I am sitting here crying. I am a very sensitive person.

Wink

I would cry at homeless kittens probably would be stone faced at homeless kids though

Kittens are just so damn cute. And make cute noises.

Maybe they are due their period?

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 22:34

I love the 'maybe they' posts.

There was a fucking brilliant one the other day about naked people at the gym.

'Maybe they can't afford a towel?'

OP posts:
GallicIsCharlie · 15/01/2015 22:35

Aww, sorry squirrel :( :( Flowers Flowers :( :(

I ?? LOVE ?? your correct use of the present participle!

.

Is that better?

GallicIsCharlie · 15/01/2015 22:39

Is anybody else crying for the poor people who can't afford a towel to take to the gym?

Me neither.

MajesticWhine · 15/01/2015 22:39

Some people can't cry about their own stuff, because they are trained to have a stiff upper lip from an early age. So they cry at tv shows or celebrity deaths. Sorry to say I'm a bit like that. I cry at all kinds of stupid stuff. I cried at something I read online today, but I guess it was triggering something else quite personal.

AwakeCantSleep · 15/01/2015 22:40

Gallic I couldn't possibly accept anything in return. Here, have some more.

QueenTilly · 15/01/2015 22:40

I have absolutely no idea why, but the McDonalds i'm lovin' it jingle is going through my head, on account of this thread.

I'm sitting here, looking cross now. [cross]

CrispyFern · 15/01/2015 22:42

I don't think I have cried since 2005. Except when I sliced off the skin from my knuckles when absentmindedly peeling an apple.

I think that was 2012. But I wasn't thinking about kittens so it probably doesn't count.

QueenTilly · 15/01/2015 22:42

I'm sitting here, crying at my inability to use emoticons. Angry

GingerCuddleMonster · 15/01/2015 22:43

From what I can gather so far, and my very limited experience mumsnet can be pretty strange at times.

Trills · 15/01/2015 22:44

What you mean is that people get upset over stuff you think is weird.

You probably get upset over some stuff that they think is weird.

It's just that in real life you tend to mainly encounter people who are more similar to you.

Or people try to hide their upsetness.

Nothing special about Mumsnetters. It's just a place where you encounter people with different opinions and attitudes to you, and where people tell you the truth about what they are thinking and feeling.
