I can understand crying at the Ebola outbreak, or homeless kittens, or tsunami footage.

Don't understand 'i am sat here crying' because a kid missed breakfast, a toddler was told off or a family moved house.

I can understand 'aw that's a shame' but crying ... Do people really sit and cry?

I thought the towel comment was sarcastic/ being silly when i read it.

Can i hijack with facebook posts "that will blow my mind", exactly how brittle do you think my mind is

VitoCorleoneAgain · 16/01/2015 21:28

nocturn I'm weeping for your poor children Sad

Nocturne123 · 16/01/2015 21:42

I know , god only knows what lasting damage I've already inflicted upon dd Sad .

Thank you for your tears of concern , they seem heart felt .

squirrelonabike · 16/01/2015 22:33

Grey - don't be so ridiculous. You know nothing about me, how alone I've felt or the numerous times I have sat crying. It's precisely because I have experienced real heartbreak and loss I have very little patience for Sad because of toddlers on tablets.

The towel image is making me larf though, and I feel a namechange coming on,

DD was in the changing room after swimming with DH yesterday. She shouted at the top of her voice "why has that man got hairs on his bum" about someone bending over naked drying his hair. All I could think of saying afterwards was "maybe he can't afford a towel" Grin

ssd · 18/01/2015 10:48

its the way so many posters here love to admit they cried at the Xmas john lewis advert, jesus friggin wept

its like a status symbol on here, "I'm middle class enough to cry at john lewis adverts and my names ssd"

bag o' shite

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/01/2015 10:51

My FB was full of people of all classes crying at it. And the sainsburys one.not me I must add.

It's not a class thing. Grin

ssd · 18/01/2015 11:04

wow, I thought it was, all these posh burdz crying over some daft penguin thing, am surprised anyone with any sense would bother..

Anniegetyourgun · 18/01/2015 11:10

Given that our own beloved Government and others are trying to protect our freedom by recording all the communications anyone makes on the internet ever, a simple autocorrect like the one upthread (which I am too cowardly to repeat) could lead to the CIA and/or the SAS appearing on your doorstep within the hour. "But it was my phone, Your Honour, I swear, I typed John!" "Yeah right. 20 years in Guantanamo for you, sunshine."

Genuinely sat here at my desk trembling now. (Or possibly not.)

Why is jihad a Bad Word?

It's a name. A name typically associated with those from an Asian/Pakistani background but it's just a name!

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/01/2015 11:15

You mean like a person's name? Err no it isn't.

squirrelonabike · 18/01/2015 11:18

Then where's the offence coming from? !

OP posts:
Anniegetyourgun · 18/01/2015 11:19

It's one of the trigger words they look out for, innit. And now you've typed it again.

EveDallasRetd · 18/01/2015 11:22

I can feel "sad" over threads, and I did get a lump in my throat and tears when Expat lost her DD, but I've never "cried" over a thread. I don't think I'd be able to type if I was actually crying. Maybe people mean their eyes tear up rather than actual sobbing tears.

I laughed out loud at a thread yesterday, so much so that DH was looking squint at me. It was a rant on the 'things not working, bad designers' thread.

ExitPursuedByABear · 18/01/2015 11:26

I have cried proper tears at some threads - usually pet death related. Not wracking sobs though.

And cried with laughter.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/01/2015 11:39

Well certain papers like the Daily Mail like to use it at the drop of a hat to mean a holy war against Westerners.

iklboo · 18/01/2015 11:59

They do read the word in context though. Not like just because it appears in a thread doesn't mean a hit squad is coming a-visiting.

Anniegetyourgun · 18/01/2015 12:06

They do? You've spoiled my fun now. I'll have to go and find something else to get excited about.

ComfortingKormaBalls · 18/01/2015 14:52

OMG. Don't go over to Chat... theres loads of them on there right now sat crying.

RandomNPC · 18/01/2015 14:56

Anyone that cries at a bloody advert is a bit tapped, IMHO.

AndyWarholsOrange · 18/01/2015 15:12

I quite fancy a job at Rent A Mourner. Wonder what the job description's like - "You will be required to attend funerals of people you don't know and pretend to be sad". Sounds a doddle.

thingsarelookingup · 18/01/2015 16:07

Jihad is also a name. I had a tour guide in Turkey called jihad. He said it meant living a good life or something.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/01/2015 16:37

Some random stranger at the schoolgate might not like me or maybe she does or maybe another slightly more lukewarm random stranger has turned her against me
no evidence

4000 screaming

she's a wendy

iklboo · 18/01/2015 16:54

I know. I've even twitching the curtains all day & getting excited when I hear the police helicopter overhead. I won't get far at the mo, but if I pull the duvet right over my head they probably won't check, right?

Renniehorta · 18/01/2015 17:13

My phone autocorrects Italian to Taliban. It really makes you wonder what is going on.
