I can understand crying at the Ebola outbreak, or homeless kittens, or tsunami footage.

Don't understand 'i am sat here crying' because a kid missed breakfast, a toddler was told off or a family moved house.

I can understand 'aw that's a shame' but crying ... Do people really sit and cry?

I'm bemused by the number of MNers who proclaim themselves to be panicking, generally over something that is at worst slightly worrying. I always envisage them rushing around in a flap like Corporal Jones shouting "Don't panic! Don't panic!"

Awake, you made me laugh! Watch out, Derek's on her way to kill you.
Or me.

Haven't you ever felt horribly premenstrual or very stressed with worry and had it all pour out over a particularly sentimental advert or something? You may have been buttoning up all sorts of shite, and it's only when something relatively inconsequential catches you by surprise and hits a soft spot before you've had the chance to arrange your stiff upper lip, and the entire edifice comes tumbling down...

I have, loads. I'd be unlikely to post about it here, mind.

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 22:54

Oh, I get upset over daft stuff, but there's daft and there's daft.

Elderly lady spending the day alone - yes. Obese seven year old not eating coco pops - not so much!

Bluetone · 15/01/2015 22:57

Yeah, didn't understand all the crying over the Christmas Jihad Lewis advert either.

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 22:58

I don't know Derek.

Some people seem to get very worked up. Someone once cried at a description of my family, I was Hmm

Wtf! Jihad = John

Littlest Hobo theme always brings a tear.

TwinkieTwinkle · 15/01/2015 22:59

i agree with you wholeheartedly. Unless you are also including crying at films or tv programmes. Hard as nails in daily life, put me in front of something even the tiniest bit emotional and I BAWL LIKE A BABY. No joke. Tears streaming, sobbing, unable to catch my breath properly. No idea why! I end up looking like Sloth from The Goonies, according to a couple of my friends...

QueenTilly · 15/01/2015 22:59

I don't get PMT [braggy] Just morning sickness on all hormonal contraception, really awful all-day vomiting in 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy and a quite rare obstetric liver condition which may reoccur with subsequent pregnancies.

Actually, can I swap?

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 22:59

I thought it was some joke about John Lewis I'd missed!

Jihad! Brilliant.

Jihad Lewis just made me laugh to wake the dead.

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 23:01

And then the child's age is repeatedly stated.

He is THREE! Sad

He is 3 ffs

He's 3!!!!!!!

I'd rather people were blubbing sympathetically than giving people a kicking as is usually found on here tbh

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 15/01/2015 23:03

Am such a hippy

Trills · 15/01/2015 23:04

I agree with Derek that I bet most are not actually crying. They are just feeling sad.

ExitPursuedByABear · 15/01/2015 23:05

I am crying with laughter at Jihad Lewis.

Best autocorrect ever.

Trills · 15/01/2015 23:06

Bet you're not really really crying with laughter

squirrelonabike · 15/01/2015 23:06

A lot of the time it's crying because you are such a terrible mother/person/cat owner though.

'Your child didn't eat breakfast? I am crying at the thought of a 4 year old going to school with nothing in their tummy.' Sad Sad Sad

I cried this morning because I forgot to set my alarm and wasn't up in time to get tickets to see The Prodigy.

On the plus side, I'd had a lovely lie-in.
