Celeb Big Brother controversy

AIBU to think that the girl Chloe that was indecently harassed by Jeremy will have trouble being hired by magazines etc now.

Of course I know that it was correct to kick Jeremy out and what he did was wrong and no excuse for it.

But from a PR point of view, do you think the mens mags and the sun (page 3) would be advised against hiring her to avoid being tactless and distasteful in light of her being harassed in the house.
Basically do you think after being harassed on national TV, it will then be wrong for the men's mags etc to approach her and ask her to take her clothes off and take pictures.

I know one is a job and one is personal issue but looking at it from a PR point of view.

Wow. They've given Ken Morley access to wifi. Didn't think it was allowed in the CBB house.

No, I don't see how being sexually assaulted affect's Chloe's future employability.

Koalafications · 11/01/2015 15:17

Again, I just don't get your logic.

LeftyLoony · 11/01/2015 15:18

Oh and I have no idea why autocorrect inserted an apostrophe in affects, sorry.

DaddyDavid · 11/01/2015 15:27

I watch the show but I don't understand what your point is?

She's a z-list reality star/page 3 girl who has been sexually assualted by a child star messed up actor. It's hardly going to affect her career negatively it will probably be boosted by big brother.

I actually feel sorry for her. It did not say that in the job description that she would be sexually assaulted.
I blame show producers for putting people in the show who are clearly not right in the head (that's most of the celebs) I've never heard of any of them in there apart from Katie Hopkins who is actually coming across as reasonable Confused. I don't follow trashy z-listers I only know because I have 3 teenagers who watch big brother.

molyholy · 11/01/2015 15:37

YABVU. Victim blaming. Why would it affect her negatively?

YouBetterWerk · 11/01/2015 15:40

This is another reason why I hate Page 3 so much - it let's people justify harassment and assault against the models because they are 'just slags' and 'do page 3 anyway' Angry

HedgehogsDontBite · 11/01/2015 15:44

It's really depressing to read all over the CBB Facebook page comments about how they don't get why she's even bothered, after all it's not like she's not had them out a million times before. Or well she gets them out all the time in public anyway so what did she expect. And what's really scary is that most of those types of comments are from women.

Sallyingforth · 11/01/2015 15:48

But from a PR point of view, do you think the mens mags and the sun (page 3) would be advised against hiring her

Yes, they should certainly be advised against hiring her. And against hiring any other woman for page 3 exploitation.

FightOrFlight · 11/01/2015 15:49

Hedgehogs I often find that it's jealous bitches women who make the worst comments on these issues. Incredibly sad and highlights why some men think it's okay to act in a misogynistic manner.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/01/2015 15:49

She was sexually assaulted. That has absolutely no bearing on her employment, future employment, ability to do her job or anything else imo.

Jeremy Jackson should have been removed from the house by police imo.

Only1scoop · 11/01/2015 15:51

Not really getting your Op....

She was assaulted so no men's mags will want to employ her? Confused

SlicedAndDiced · 11/01/2015 16:01

I think I might slightly maybe be able to guess what op is getting at.

Did you mean the sleaze balls who usually like to look at the topless pictures in the sun/ men's magz will probably be put off Chloe a but now. As in, usually they'd like to fancy that if they got to grope or hit on the models they perve over they'd definitely be 'up for it'

But now it's clear Chloe isn't.

And op thinks the magazine/ newspaper sleaze balls will also be thinking maybe it's better to use models who could still keep up the illusion of 'being up girl it'?

Oh I'm not sure, I've confused myself now.

WilburIsSomePig · 11/01/2015 16:05

OK so if you are not linking the two points OP why make them both in your OP? Are you saying that because she was sexually assaulted on television, that magazines etc may not approach her? If that is what you are saying, why would you even think that? If it's not, can you please explain your question further as I'm afraid I don't understand.

FightOrFlight · 11/01/2015 16:10

The way I read the OP was that perhaps the agencies would think it wasn't appropriate to ask her to model nude/topless after being assaulted. If so then I think the OP invests too much confidence in their morality. If anything I think she's likely to get more offers of work so that their readers can see 'what all the fuss is about'.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh about prospective employers though ...

YesPleaseThankYou · 11/01/2015 16:42

Thank you for wording it better than myself. This is what I was saying

OP posts:
AnguaResurgam · 11/01/2015 16:44

If she is already doing modelling work of that sort, then it is entirely appropriate to continue to offer her work in exactly the same ways as she was offered work before.

If she wasn't, then yes it would be deeply tacky to start doing so.

Bulbasaur · 11/01/2015 16:48

She was just on TV, they'll hire her as a publicity point. Magazines invest in what sells. If she sells their magazines they'll hire her. When she fades into obscurity after the show, then we'll probably stop hearing about her.

Assault or not, she has a limited window of doing something like this while she's still relevant.

notauniquename · 11/01/2015 16:56

I get the op basically saying. After being treated like a "piece of meat" by one guy is it distasteful for a national publication to suggest she come be a "piece of meat"

But no, they are different circumstances.

ghostyslovesheep · 11/01/2015 17:00

but they wouldn't necessarily ask HER - she will have an agent - the agent will book work and approach magazines etc

Bambambini · 11/01/2015 17:22

Just read about this is the DM. Seems according to the comments, he has most of the sympathy and she is a drama queen teasing slut.

FightOrFlight · 11/01/2015 17:28

Bambamini

That is not surprising, sadly. DM commentators aren't renown for their intelligence.

mewkins · 11/01/2015 17:30

I don't think it will make any difference to her career and it was absolutely right that he left. What was more concerning was how some tried to minimise what had happened.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 11/01/2015 17:52

The number of men and women who are saying that it was her fault because she was wearing a bathrobe and he was drunk is fucking ridiculous. And scary as all hell.

Explains some of the weird attitudes to C bloody E though.

It seems that rape and sexual assault are always the woman's fault according to a diehard minority.

However OP, I doubt the commissioners of 'glamour' photography really give a hoot about whether or not a woman has been sexually assaulted as long as they have a perky pair of breasts. In fact, sadly, I think it might add a level of 'spice' to it all.

"Come see the boobs Jeremy fondled in the CBB house! Only 50p an ogle"

I may be feeling slightly jaded today though.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 11/01/2015 17:53

Oh, and that odious prick Roy Morley(?) should have been booted too.

BallsforEarrings · 11/01/2015 18:02

Yes Puffins - Ken Morley should get the boot he is a racist mysoginist! I can't believe he told her to not get on the wrong side of Jeremy as he was from a family of important Jewish directors or some bollocks!

She should obviously be aiming to sleep her way to the top then!

Thanks for the tip Ken Morley and it was also lovely to hear you call Alexandra O'Neal a n*o!! I can't even say what he called black children it's outrageous! He will surely get booted out tonight!
