I am looking at you Sweaty Betty - your XL translates according to your website as a size 16 which is the average UK women's size. As you have a sale on I ordered 3 different styles, they arrived this morning and looked like they had shrunk in the wash when I tried stuff on.
Surely people who want to get fit should be able to get clothes that are comfortable and fit for purpose (that came out as a pun sorry.
Suppose I shall have to try dreaded M&S ....

Meh. Jo Pavey can do it quicker. sniff

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2015 22:40

16 minutes isn't all that good you know*

*this is blatant sarcasm. I think it's brilliant!!

TheChandler · 12/01/2015 23:19

I wouldn't call it sarcasm. I'd call it slapstick! Bloody brilliant!

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2015 23:31

Eh?

TheChandler · 13/01/2015 09:48

Power of ten lists all British athletes times. There are only 4 women in the whole of the UK who ran 16 mins for 5k in 2014. 45 women broke 17 minutes. They are all very well known (if you are into running) as most are on the British team or contesting championships regularly. Nearly all are sponsored, and Sweaty Betty has no sponsored athletes. No size 18 amongst them - its just a fact.

Greywackejones - I would love to come and see you in your next race - what is it? Perhaps you are not in the UK?

Serious point, even if you do believe every single thing you read on the internet, running is hard and belittling those who do run those times is every bit as objectionable and odd as making up stories about victimisation.

IDismyname · 13/01/2015 17:28

I suggest we just don't respond to The Chandler.

She'll burn herself out eventually...

(Let it Go.... Let it Go...!)

JapaneseMargaret · 13/01/2015 18:32

The only one doing any belittling on is thread, is you...! Shock

Sorry, I know, ignore, ignore...

muminhants · 13/01/2015 21:12

I run and 20 minutes IS VERY good and most weeks is fast enough to be first lady finisher at my local parkrun. If you look at last week's 5k in Edinburgh which was run alongside the cross-country, the first three ladies ran 19 minutes something out of goodness knows how many. So less of the belittling if you please. Yes professional elite runners run around 15. But they're the minority - we're talking about "normal" women and for non-elite ladies, 20 minutes is very good.

bookishandblondish · 13/01/2015 21:27

Chandler - your post only refers to women who have competed in registered races. The majority of runners do not compete under registered rules.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/01/2015 22:57

Ishoukdcoacoa yes I know you're right but bloody hell it's hard. I'm chewing my lip

BitOutOfPractice · 13/01/2015 23:00

I've read chandlers last post again and once again I say "eh?"

Are you reading the same thread as the rest of us chandler? I am so puzzled at this argument you seem to be having with yourself!

Yes, agree, should definitely not let it get to us.

JapaneseMargaret · 13/01/2015 23:38

Each time TheChandler comes back to rant and tell people off, it's at things she's saying and doing, not anyone else.

It's just bizarre.

kittykat7210 · 13/01/2015 23:42

i wish they didnt make skin tight clothing, i dont even like wearing it and i'm less than a size 6! we all have wobbly bits and no one wants skin tight clothing haha , i just exercise in leggings and an oversized top, much nicer

MargotLovedTom · 13/01/2015 23:55

Okay, I'm just going to skirt round all the arguing to say that Asda are currently doing fitness gear on special offer - goes up to size 20, includes running leggings etc and costs five whole English pounds per item.

SquirrelledAway · 14/01/2015 07:19

I've just bought a pair of the Asda capris for a tenner - decent enough quality and a nice fit.
