To Think That a Confession (Radio 2) should actually be something that you have kept secret from other people? a guilty secret maybe?

Yesterday, or the day before, on the radio there was a 'confession' about a woman who was stressed and in the car with 3 DCs, bought some sweets and then threw them with force in to the car... although funnily it wasnt her car.... oh how we laughed.... BUT ITS NOT A CONFESSION IS IT???

On the rare occasion that i am listening when the confessions are on i cringe with embarassment at them and all the laughing by Simon Mayo et al.

Oooh when is this on? I used to love the Confessions with Simon Mayo on R1

crazypenguin · 08/01/2015 17:54

Normally between 5.30 and 6 isn't it? They are all on the R2 website too. There is a brilliant one about a goat...
Grin

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 08/01/2015 17:56

You can download it as a podcast too if you miss it on the radio.

sanquhar · 08/01/2015 17:58

the best confession i heard on r2 was the woman who used a pay-at-pump pump at the petrol station then tricked her daughter into thinking she had done a runner without paying. was hilariousGrin

FrankelandFilly · 08/01/2015 18:02

I liked the pre-Christmas one where the lady and her two daughters lied to a very nosey former neighbour that her sadly departed husband was in prison for bigamy.

Plus last night's one about the young lads cycling in thick fog in 1950s London was pretty funny Grin

wowfudge · 08/01/2015 18:24

Lighten up OP - it's only a bit of a laugh. Tonight's about the snarky passenger being left at Andover station was funny. I didn't see that outcome coming.

AngelDreams · 08/01/2015 19:19

I missed the start of the Andover one - but got the end

there are some good ones, the drunken xmas decorations one where they moved the Santa next to the window which ended up coming on in the morning and bashing the window was quite funny

but on the other hand, there have been some really dull ones

OP posts:
Dinnerfor1 · 08/01/2015 19:23

I love them but don't believe most of them. Surely most of them are at least massively exaggerated?

chemenger · 08/01/2015 19:25

The one where the parents told a child that her older brother had been eaten by trolls in the woods (there had never been an older brother) and didn't realise that she completely believed them was very funny, and yet disturbing.

TSSDNCOP · 08/01/2015 20:44

There was a very funny one about a kid who hated his driving instructor.

Some are a bit cringe. But it makes me laugh when Matts wetting himself.

AngelDreams · 08/01/2015 20:46

The driving instructor one was good, where he lay on the floor and they called an ambulance for him

OP posts:
TSSDNCOP · 08/01/2015 20:48

That was it. You knew the neighbour would be up a ladder, but Matt roaring with laughter is what got me.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 08/01/2015 20:49

Most of them are like threads on here, either total urban myth / Walter Mitty territory or massively embellished.

Elledouble · 08/01/2015 21:05

The nosey neighbour/bigamous husband one was brilliant. I do think the quality of confession has decreased recently though, they've not been nearly as funny as they have been in the past.

5Foot5 · 08/01/2015 21:16

Oh I enjoy listening to these and I recognise the one in the OP and just about all the others - although I just missed Andover station man tonight as I was late leaving work.

I loved the one the other night about the woman at the military ball doing an adventurous spin in a heavily boned ball gown and finding she had actually turned around inside the dress and was flashing her assets at the top brass!

The thing that annoys me though is all the daft unnecessary asides and interruptions from the others in the studio that keep steering the confession off course. I find myself shouting in the car "Just STFU. The confession is funny but you are not!"

Frozenchipsareawful · 08/01/2015 21:28

Who else loved our tune? Cant remember the DJ that did it, the music was sad. Always seemed about people having affairs in surrey! Some of the confessions do go on too much. I think some must be made up..

SkyHighWhy · 08/01/2015 21:39

The one the other day about the woman who had bared her breasts at a military do came across more as a stealth boast than a confession. Agreed?

But I did like the 2 lads on bikes one, that was actually funny.

Acky123 · 08/01/2015 21:44

the best confession i heard on r2 was the woman who used a pay-at-pump pump at the petrol station then tricked her daughter into thinking she had done a runner without paying. was hilarious

I am SO doing that to my mum next time she's in the car and I need petrol Grin

I agree that the confessions have got a bit rubbish recently.

YY to the one the other day about her showing her boobs to the top brass not being a confession at all, it was lame Hmm

AMillionNameChangesLater · 08/01/2015 21:48

I used to love Our Tune! I used to listen to it during Cookery class

BikeRunSki · 08/01/2015 21:49

I've got a confession I really need to send in.

Frozenchipsareawful · 08/01/2015 21:58

It was simon bates! Was on mat leave about 22 years ago when i got into it. My dh hated it! I am humming the tune now.

guinnessgirl · 08/01/2015 22:15

I also have a confession that I need to send in. it's definitely as good as, or even better than, some of the ones that get read out. Grin

SkyHighWhy · 08/01/2015 22:32

Why not cut out the middle man and send your confessions straight to MN?

We are all ears eyes.
