To leave indoor cat on neighbours roof all night... more of a wwyd

Sorry its hard to explain but our indoor cat has jumped from our tiny roof area over to the neighbours and she can't get back.

The jump from our roof was 'down' and now she is stuck.

Its late and its a Monday night so as upset as I am I won't go knocking on neighbours door at this time.

We've not been living here long and I don't actually know my neighbours..

Will pop a note in first thing and my OH will be home all day.

Where she is at the moment there is no shelter and its a 60ft drop so if she tries to jump back / gets spooked off then she is likely to have a horrific fall.

Sadly she has form for this as earlier this year in our old place she went awol and had actually fallen off our balcony and ended up being lost for 3 nights as well as needing £600 of veterinary treatment.

I have been in tears since I noticed she was gone. I am 38w pregnant and its my last day at work tomorrow but how can I sleep now?

The worst part is the only reason she got out is because my stupid cunt OH was having a cheeky roll up. I am beyond furious with him actually. Tip of the iceberg at the moment unfortunately.

Sorry for the rant and original question stands. Will cat be ok for tonight?

Get your OH to roust the neighbours as it's an emergency and get her down.

No wise words to add other than it reminds me of the Mog at Christmas story Smile. Mog came home by arriving down the chimney on Christmas morning.
Also reminds me of someone I used to know who got a turkey stuck on his roof and had to go up a ladder in the middle of the night to get it down.

How far is the drop from your roof to your neighbour's? Can you get a ladder/plank over the gap, or drop a duvet down for her to climb if it's a drop rather than across gap she's gone over. If there's nothing interesting for her to do, and I doubt she'll be seriously considering a 60ft jump, then she'll get bored and come back via whatever method you are able to bridge the gap with. If it is a drop that she needs to get back up then something soft for her to climb is probably your best bet

Overnight temp is 7c

We have top part of house and she has jumped to neighbour who has the same property so we have no ground level access . We have a ladder but it won't reach between the two roofs, She's jumped quite a distance.

I can hear her crying. I'm currently in bed crying too

my OH isn't being very helpful and its all his fucking fault.

Nip down and get the neighbours then. I wouldn't mind being roused for that if I were them.

How far down is it? Maybe an improvised ladder, ie a plank of wood, so that the cat can climb back?
I wouldn't hesitate to ring the neighbours, but only if it's likely to help - does it look like they have easy access to the roof?

Go and knock on at the neighbours and take reluctant Oh and set of ladders with you. They cant fail to take pity on a tear stained pregnant woman and a frozen moggy. Seriously if it was me I wouldn't mind being disturbed, the longer you wait the worse it will be.

No lights on. They don't seem to have access to their roof like we do either (we have a hallway window that goes straight out) the neighbours window is much higher.

Have had an almighty bust up with OH and have told him to fuck off to his mum's. He is more than useless. Can see how upset I am but keeps saying she'll be ok for a few hours.

I'll go round first thing. As usual I'm left to sort everything out.

Expect my next thread to be in relationships asking for advice to cope as a single parent to 2 young children.

Why isn't he doing anything to help?

Yes - I think you should probably post in Relationships.

Go round to the neighbours now, lights or no lights. It's the only way you'll get at least some sleep.

No answer. Have popped a note in.

Furious with OH. When she went missing before he left it to me then as well. Let me knock on the door of the local crack den (we had such nice neighbours) and everything. Of course I sorted out all the vets stuff as well... taking her [we had to go 4 times], taxis to and from vets, paying for treatment - insurance paid me back - not the point. All I can say is he isn't like this with DS (very equal division of childcare) but I'm fucked off with him about this enough to want him away from me right now.

I used to love my cats when I had them, but they will go and do stupid things like this. In my past experience, they usually extricate themselves eventually.

My cat has form. Night before she was due to be spayed she escaped (not OH's fault lol) and she climbed about 80ft up a tree outside our old place.

4 hours I sat outside cajoling her / offering treats. OH gave up at 1am and I sat out like a muppet until she hopped down at about 3am.

However this is dangerous. If she misjudged this jump she'll have a very nasty fall.

I would leave it, it will sort itself out. My cat seems to be able to jump two storeys when I'm not looking but insists I give her a lift onto the sofa when I'm looking.
Although I would worry a bit what with her being an indoor cat instead of a proper one. I think they have thinner fur, could you chuck down a basket or even a cardboard box with a blanket in for her?
