So I've obviously NC here as I don't want this to be held against me for the rest of my MN life and I'm a coward Grin

I watched her fat tv show expecting to be disgusted and hate her but... Essentially she was right. Eat less, move more! I also think she came across as someone who was beginning to have a bit more empathy for overweight people, a bit more understanding of the issues surrounding weight gain and I thought she was funny!

When she comes out with things like calling overweight people fat bastards I can see that it's clearly to get that Shock reaction. KH enjoys the reactions she gets and to be honest I can see why it amuses her. It is amusing to see people getting all wound up and angry (like the woman who went off to call the police in the show...that was some funny shit!) when they could also choose to be like KH and let it go over their heads.
KH has people being pretty vile to her on a daily basis (not denying that most of it is self inflicted) but I don't see her sobbing and running off to the police blithering on about 'hate crimes' and 'prejudice'.
It's not just her views that are attacked it's everything, her nose, her kids, her wrinkly face ect. So how are the so called victims or their defenders of KH being any different?

It seems to have become socially unacceptable to claim to like KH. The mob mentality is so violent that to voice a differnt opinion to everyone else would be to commit social suicide and open yourself up to the kind of behaviours that everyone hates KH for!

For the record, I'm a bit over weight so I would be one of those people that KH would be laughing at as I jog down the road...I couldn't care less.

I agree that the experiment of gaining then losing the weight wasn't realistic.

I've put on a couple of stone in the last few years without realising it. KH already had a strong athletic background so her losing it can in no way be comparable to someone like me starting an exercise regime from nothing.

I don't feel too sorry for her children. They probably have a very nice life and education thanks to their mothers ever increasing bank balance.

If she is as truely vile as most people think then why on earth would she have friends (that were on the show) and would they really be willing to have their faces on tv with her? I don't think so.
I wonder how many of you watch top gear? jC has said some pretty awful things in his time. What about Prince Phillip? He's also not the most tolerant person on the planet.
Again, I don't agree with or like some of what she comes out with but on the show she seemed normal and likeable.

Totally agree with sparkling...shes just a bit like a small yappety dog, constant dirge of uninteresting opinions on everything. Why does anyone care what she thinks/says?

once again, I'm referring to how she came across on her show. Not everything that has ever come out of her mouth.

Yes Katie, YABU.

Tinkerball · 05/01/2015 13:09

"Why does anyone care what she thinks anyway"

I would imagine Pauline's loved ones care because what she called her was deepy offensive. It's easy to say ignore, not on Twitter etc - but it was reported in the media what she said on Twitter. I know if it was one if my loved ones fighting for their life I would care.

IThinkUStink · 05/01/2015 13:20

Can no one see the difference between saying " yes I agree with every word that has ever crossed her lips" and "she seemed ok on her tv show" ?

There's a big difference but then I don't spend my life being mortally offended by people with different opinions to myself.

Maybe her ill advised tweets about Scotland and the nurse with ebola were really her thoughts on it or maybe they were engineered to whip everyone up into a frenzy. Either way she's entitled to say what she wants, just like you and me.
Doesn't mean I agree with her, because I don't.

DuelingFanjo · 05/01/2015 13:22

She is a twat but you are correct in your agreement that people who are overweight could lose that weight (Emotional and physical issues withstanding) if they ate less and moved more. Heck they would do it by just eating less.

An unpopular opinion which KH makes more unpopular by the way she delivers the message.

26Point2Miles · 05/01/2015 13:25

I get what you are saying op

it was funny when that woman rang the police on KH... For what? I missed it but saw the aftermath with everyone laughing

SirChenjin · 05/01/2015 13:29

No - I can't see the difference because I don't separate the 2. She is an odious woman who has been hugely offensive, and I won't put that conveniently to one side simply because she has made one TV programme where she was midly amusing (I have no way of knowing if she was as I didn't watch it, I am paraphrasing the OP)

As for whipping everyone into a frenzy - really? She posts deeply offensive vitriol and bile, why on earth would people not react? Pen/sword and all that.

26Point2Miles · 05/01/2015 13:34

The frenzy I saw on Twitter was all positive, well done Katie type stuff.... So it was a positive 'frenzy' this time

I was wondering when the first Hitler reference would happen Grin

I could now say (being Jewish and all that) that I'm deeply offended that you could compare a woman saying things that people don't like to a man that murdered 6 million+ people.

I'm not though because you're one person with an opinion, and that opinion makes no difference to me or my life.

OP posts:
SirChenjin · 05/01/2015 13:54

That post wasn't actually comparing KH to Hitler though, was it? Godwin's law etc. A further difference is that kim doesn't have a career built on being as offensive as humanly possible (that we know of, obv)

IThinkUStink · 05/01/2015 13:59

So if I was offended by that reference (which I'm not) then my feelings don't count?
Is it only certain groups that are allowed to feel offence?

I think I could say that the sky's blue and some people would argue the toss against me Grin

With the exception of the Ebola tweet, which was beyond the pale, what other outrageously vile statements has she made? Genuine question as I never watch the shows she's on and she doesn't feature in the paper I usually read.

I bet Hitler could come across as nice if he wanted to on a tv show he was producing

That's what you said, not anyone who is horrible can come over nice occasionally

But this is beside the point. I'm most definitely not talking about Hitler (who by the way was slightly more than just "horrible").

I stand by what I said. KH came across well in her show. Whether she's a nice or horrible person is neither here nor there as I'm referring only to the tv program.

I can't get worked up about her because she's basically a professional troll. She's carved out a lucrative career from spouting obnoxious BS. I'm not convinced she believes much of the crap that comes out of her mouth, but she knows it will get a reaction.

pigsinmud · 05/01/2015 14:17

I didn't watch the show, but just because she came across as quite nice on one tv show doesn't make her an ok person. I don't know if she thinks she's funny with her outrageous tweets, but imo she's an arse. I found her ginger baby comment particularly vile. Ds2 (ginger and been bullied for it) didn't find it amusing either.

I don't follow her on Twitter or watch her on TV, but somehow I seem to hear about her comments. I don't understand what she is trying to achieve. In a few years she'll still be putting out these comments, but the media will ignore and she'll realise her time is over....I can't wait.
