dd has toast most mornings

then at lunch time we tend to have sarnies wraps etc
we do have a dishwasher but I'm forever loading and unloading
I would recycle them

Those people saying that you can't recycle used paper plates - of course you can.
They go in with the rest of the cardboard in a great big skip, where your toast crumbs get mooshed up along with all the other plant based materials in a big cardboardy squeeze.

Noone is sitting there going "Oi! Stop the machine! Them there toast crumbs are gonna blow the thing right up!"

HOWEVER I cannot support the OP's proposition as it is the notion of a lazy mare and it's no more work to rinse a ceramic plate under the tap for 3 seconds and leave it to dry.

People have a cheek calling the OP lazy..its hardly the point, is it? Some people's judgey pants are too far up their own backside, life goes beyond dishes, as a mother she's very probably doing lots of other things. Yes there's an environmental issue and I get that some will be upset about that but the lazy comments are off-key

I hope nobody employs cleaners or ironers..get off your lazy backsides and do it yourself you can iron a child's top or mop a floor in the time it takes to wash a couple of plates Grin

Lets face it, all the people washing up individual plates by hand rather than doing a maximally efficient dishwasher load are probably just as environmentally guilty as the OP.

But I'm baffled by the people who don't like dishwashers because they don't like putting stuff away. Do you have magic pixies who put hand washing away? Surely the process goes

a) put dirty washing in dishwasher/sink
b) wash up / let machine wash up
c) rinse / let machine rinse
d) dry / leave to drip dry on rack (none of my dishwashers have ever left all the plates and mugs dry enough to go straight back into the cupboard sadly)
e) put away or just leave on draining rack until you need a clean one

For the paper plates the routine goes

a) put paper plate in bin,

which is slightly quicker than the dishwasher equivalent of

a) put in dishwasher
d) remove from dishwasher and put on drying rack

but not enough to be worth the extra cost/waste, surely.

Are you joking?! Seriously lazy.
Get your partner and children (if old enough) to take turns loading and unloading the dishwasher, so it's not you doing it all the time.

When my cousin went to Uni she took paper plates as she didn't "do menial chores" Hmm

She didn't finish her course, either. She's now a SAHM to triplet 2yo DDs so think she may well have changed her ideas a bit.
