dd has toast most mornings

then at lunch time we tend to have sarnies wraps etc
we do have a dishwasher but I'm forever loading and unloading
I would recycle them

I hate housework but paper plates is a laziness too far even for me. If we all started using paper plates civilization as we know it would crumble around us.

DD knows a lot of uni students that use this method, but it seems odd to me.
I can think of other chores that take much longer than rinsing a plate, I'd be working on ways of cutting them down. But if paper plates makes sense to you, go ahead. You can only recycle clean paper and card though, so no food stains.

We did this over Christmas. Bought DD a pack of festive plates and used them for breakfast toast and lunch sandwiches. Straight in bin after. Easy!

Recycling uses a lot of energy though? It's ok for a one off but pretty bad every day.

It takes as long to chuck a paper plate in the recycling as to put a normal plate in the dishwasher, surely?

Why not just use a bit of kitchen towel for the toast? Then no need even for a plate- just put the kitchen towel onto the table? Or get a plastic table cloth cover and wipe it and then serve onto it?

Nt something that I would do but equal to using paper plates I think.

Can u even put dirty plates in the recycle ? I thought everything had to be rinsed through so it goes in clean

This is the height of laziness. Please, washing up one plate is a 2 second job. It would take me longer to put a plate in the recycling. Not to mention the energy waste.

Think about the planet and the example you are setting your dd.

YABU.
paper plates are not environmentally friendly. at all.
you can't put soiled paper in the recycling either.
plus, buying paper plates will cost you a lot of money over time.
buy a dishwasher - they save more water than washing by hand.
and your stuff will come out gleaming.

If you are that lazy (yes, lazy), why not just put your food straight onto the table? It would be okay because you'd be too lazy to wipe the table after every meal. I wouldn't want to come to your house for a meal, thank you. Your attitude makes me wonder if I'd have to eat off the floor where your cats / dogs / people in dirty-soled shoes walk or even straight from the bin.

You can't recycle anything that has food residue on it.

U'll have to butter and cut the toast on the work top/board, or you cut into the plate. So you would still have cleaning up to do.

I use paper plates at my Mums, when we're all having cake etc and they aren't that practical for some foods.

I stopped using my dishwasher because it was quicker to rinse a couple of plates/cutlery.

I've never bought paper plates but if I'm grabbing a slice of toast or a sandwich I generally use a piece of kitchen roll, partly to save on washing up and partly because I don't often sit down for lunch/breakfast at home anyway.

Eh, why not just bypass the plate stage altogether and just take food out of the fridge and transfer it directly to the bin? Cuts out time consuming sandwich preparation and eating time too. Massive timesaver.
