.So I was in Tesco today grabbing some items for tonight and breakfast tomorrow (its about 3pm), it was really busy and I had already been patiently in the queue for the checkout for 15 minutes. I was up next and this guy wanders over and demands that I let him go in front of me to pay for his bottle of alcohol - ok I know it is one item but I have things to do and have been patient enough to queue up plus there are plenty of self-service or 5 items and less tills. So I politely refused and he got in a right huff said the self service & 5 items less tills were too busy then called me a fat bitch and walked off. In way I am glad I didn't since he was so incredibly rude. The guy who was in front of me and just paying said well it is New Year's you should of let him.

If it was me buying one item I would just go to self service or 5 items and less and wait my turn. I just wouldn't even think to try and queue jump.

I was once waiting in a queue at the petrol station to get fags from the window kiosk. There were about 7-8 people in front of me. A taxi pulled up and a girl got out and walked to the front of the queue. She completely ignored the shouts to get to the back of the queue and the man inside stood there not knowing what to do. She banged on the window and demanded he serve her. He said that it wasn't fair and she'd have to wait her turn. She got very irate and shouted "So what? fuck them!" A woman behind me walked up to her grabbed her by her hair, threw her to the floor and told her to get to the back of the queue or else. She jumped up, ran back to her taxi and drove off. About 3 weeks later she was in the local paper begging people to call the police to identify the woman who assaulted her for no reason. I could see myself in the picture they used so I contacted them and let them know exactly what happened. Never heard anything about it again. I don't agree with her being "assaulted" but I didn't agree that she was portraying herself as completely innocent. One day your arrogant and selfish actions might lead to you scampering red faced from a petrol forecourt clutching your extensions while being booed by pissed up students in the middle of manchester. Think on.

There's no quotations about it. That's assault. You can't just hit people that irritate you.

As for queues, I don't think I've ever had a problem with people cutting me, though I'm sure they could without me noticing if they caught me daydreaming. On the other hand, I have accidentally gone straight up to a window to get a ticket because the place was generally crowded and I didn't realize the gap was the start of a line. It's happened at self check outs too. People here queue in clusters sometimes so it's hard to tell if they're waiting or just standing around on their phones. Sometimes people call me on it and I apologize before going to the back of the line.

The only time I got snapped at is when I went to get on the bus and a woman (obviously not from the city) got snippy and informed me the line was "back there" whatever that was suppose to mean as everyone clusters to get on the buses I just got on after her because no one else cared.

YANBU. You don't have to let people cut if you don't want. It's rude to get demanding.
