hi my daughter is 17 a young 17. her and her friend who is 15 both want to meet a boy they know in victoria tomorrow day time. she days she will be home by 7pm. i really don't want her to go. i kicked him out of my house for puffing. when i have seen him its like the lights are on but no bodys home. it seems like the puff had sizzled his brain. i feel quite disapointed my daughter sees him as a friend. at one point there was talk of the 2 girls getting a cab to his house. which i think leaves them vulnerable.

i suggested they meet another day hes not gong to vanish. she says he cant do another day. i repeated to her hes not going to vanish...

so aibu? it comes down to that i cant stand him. hes a puff head. and if the girls decide not to be home by 7 it then gets difficult getting home.

YABU. When I was 17 I was up and down the entire country and my parents rarely had any idea where I was! As long as I let them know I was alive and when I'd be home...

Worra under 19's in full education, not uni, get free bus travel and discounts on the tube.

I must be really missing something. I don't see what's different to NYE before 7pm in London.

dancing... i dont know i dont want him in my house. but then if thats the safer thing for the girls maybe i dont have a choice... but they want to meet him in victoria i dont even know why really its not about the london celebrations.

daughter said they are coming back towards this way as hes going to a place closer this way. so i said well he can meet you more local then. and it still came back the victoria thing...

I think you need to compromise- although I do find the fact that someone would smoke in your home without your permission to be very disrespectful.

Get some money from your DD, buy some alcopops and say they can at your house on the pretence they keep doors open and you can check on them as and when you see fit.

Won't cab fares be extortionate tomorrow?

Report
ghostspirit · 30/12/2014 22:10

yes relunctant. i googled how much a cab is from Victoria to my area its 40 pounds and thats standard fare, she will just say shes getting a bus

TfL page with NYE road closures

If she's visiting Victoria area by day (you said back home by 7pm if she sticks to plan) then road closures are very unlikely to disrupt her (they're not scheduled to extend as far as Vauxhall Bridge Road - just to east of Victoria station - until 8pm).

But if she and her friend are going to go on to this boy's house, where is that?

As far as I know, a 17yr old in education will get reduced travel - not free.

But on NYE all travel is free between certain hours for everyone.

Hmmm.. So what's so damn appealing about Victoria? That's what I would like to know in your position. Summat's up.

I'm surprised the 15 year olds mum is happy for her to go. Could you phone her and see what she thinks? She might not know what they're up to. When my dd was 17, we would chat about things she wanted to do and I would hope I could talk her out of things I wasnt happy with. At the end of the day though, I just said no, if this didn't happen.
I think you will have to say -
She doesn't know the area and thousands of people will be descending at Victoria tomorrow night, so she can meet her friend more locally, but not at Victoria.

bakeofcakes. i messaged her mum. she said she does not understand why he would suggest to them to go to his house there could be anyone there. i told her hes not a nice person. said what i have on here really. she said what if the girls have a fall out or something. i have always told my daughter if they fall out when they are out they have to put up with each other till they get home because none of them need to be walking the streets alone.

im quite sure when i say no the other mum will tell her daughter the same.

The other girl, her friend, is only 15. What do her parents think about this?
And how did your dd become friendly with this man? Has she known him long or is it a recent thing? I'd be very unwilling to permit this. She could find herself stranded, unable to get home and be caught up in all the NYE shenanigans. And the lad sounds a bit dodgy to me. One wonders what other kinds of people will be there at his place, and what goes on there.
I'd say no. Your dd would have a safer time tonight with friends nearer home, and ones that aren't into drugs.

hatespiders... i agree 100% i have never had a straight answer on how they met. and yes i wonder who is in the house. he came to my house a few times. my instincts told me he's not right there's something about him. i let him in though thinking i rather he here than shes out and about with him and i could be wrong... hes never spoken a word to me. no hello even. came home one day and my house stank of puff it was disgusting. i told him to get out. never said a word to me... daughter lied for weeks saying he had not been puffing in my house. it was disgusting....

i dont think the 15 year olds mum seems impressed. but shes also not coming across like its a big fat no. she said shes concerned about who might be at the house and what if the girls have a fall out

If I have this straight, she needs to be on a train home by a certain time and if not she'll need to get a black cab?
I would let her go but with the understanding that she'll need to be on the train home. If she needs to get a black can you will pay the fare when she's dropped off but you'll expect her to pay you back with interest.

luckylucky me the black cab fare would be 80 pounds. i think... its 40 on a standard fare i think its double new years...
