My attitude could probably be described as old-fashioned, narrow-minded, prejudiced etc. I'm of the opinion that "smelling nice" is a woman thing and it's rather girly for men to reek like a rosebush. I'm not suggesting that anybody, man or woman, should pong of sweat and BO. Just to be hygienically neutral without added flavour, as it were.

By the way, my 89 year-old neighbour wears Old Spice. A 25 year-old workmate wears Paco Rabane, and way too much of it. Both of these products smell awful, IMO.

Over to you.

Only tangentially relevant to the thread, but DD has just shown me a montage of Facebook type messages collected by one of her friends. Every one of them waxes lyrical about the scent of their boyfriend's/partner's/husband's "colon". I hope they mean cologne but if not, one could readily understand why the scent of Paco Rabanne might be preferable.

I cannot stand the smell of dirty BOey men, - I like the smell of soap - my Dad would never have worn after shave or any kind of man scent but he always smelt lovely and clean and soapy.

My Uncle on the other hand, who was Polish (I only mention this because it was deemed exotic when I was young!) wore cologne and any other scenty things he could lay his hands on - he always smelt gorgeous too. He was in the secret service during the war, and won some kind of very high up Polish medal for valour. As far as I'm concerned he was a brilliant, funny, amazing man and he could wear as much bloody perfume or whatever as he liked - he wasn't in the slightest bit effeminate.

(And in any case so what if it is effeminate?, there are worse things to be than effeminate, I'd rather be with a nice man who smells a bit scenty than with some BO ridden macho fuckwit)

As children we used to think 'toilet water' was actually from the toilet cistern!

Eau de Colon is what Fungus the Bogeyman wore.

Gone all quiet. I've just got time to nip to the shops and snap up the last bottle of Blue Stratos.
